The SIG P220 is one of the best for accuracy and reliability. The double-action trigger is too long for me, but the SAO (single-action-only with a thumb safety allowing for cocked-and-locked carry) version solves that.

The Smith & Wesson 645, 4506, 4516, etc. are very reliable and durable. The M&P in this caliber looks very promising.

i'll say XD or M&P (or glock...that slimline one is cool)

gunlvnlearner....do you sit at home all day thinking up questions to post online? My god you start more threads than anyone... just sayin!

P220. No doubt. Second would be, in my opinion, the HK USP.

EDIT: The XDm is supposed to be pretty good too, but I wouldn't know either way.

It's really dependent on the application, but overall my vote goes to the SAO Sig 220.

HK USP imho. Just .02. Nothing against Sigs but I've never shot mine as well as the USP. Grips feels different, definately different handling in rapid fire mode. The USP sees daylight much more often than my (2) Sigs.

It would have to be a 220 of some sort, and I LOVE my G21 SF and XD 45 Tactical, too.

And I agree w/ chupacabrah: GunLvrNLearner, you need to LEARN how to use the SEARCH function! As of today, you have TEN separate threads on the first two pages, many of which are on subjects already discussed many times over on these boards. Don't make the Mods write a new rule capping the number of threads someone can start per day!

Heckler & Koch

H & K's .45s:

USP: Standard, Tactical, Match, Elite

USP Compact & Compact Tactical

HK45

HK45 Compact

and of course the venerable P9/P9S

All are solid, reliable performers..........

put me down for the XD 45 service model. . . . .

lots of good pistols out there but this one has been 100% reliable. It shoots where it looks and is a snap to field strip and clean. Feed it heavy bullets and all is right with the world.
