I wonder if all of the mods have quit over the THR "ownership" dispute.

Good riddance. The policy against politics was short sighted. Squelching discussion while we have a presidential election is incredibly bone headed.

We have brainwashed gunowners like dogngun amongst us that need to be shown Obama's lies and past voting record including his stance against CCW and semi-auto weapons.

1) How is anyone not surprised by Obama's stance - which changes depending on which group he is talking to...

2) If you vote for him, you better not be one of the sad sorry doofuses who posts here in a couple of years about how you are upset about ever more oppressive gun laws - because that's what you are voting for.

maybe this mysterious breakdown in thread-locking protocol is an omen of the pending crash and burn of the american political system. eat, drink and be merry.........

gunndog:

Obama's VP pick is the AUTHOR of the 1994 assault weapon ban:
Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act (VCCLEA; also known as the Biden Crime Law)

It is clear you've been swayed by two smooth talking pathological liars but the facts speak for themselves.

You're voting for hard core anti-gunners. They have not changed their ways, they have changed their public-relations message. They will not hesitate to stab you in the back.

I just copied this from Obama's website. It is under the heading of Urban Policy, subheading Crime and Violence, or something like that.

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

He's right. Gun on Gun violence is a big problems. Too many guns are injured or killed every year.

I hate the term "gun violence"
Just like I hate the terms
Big Oil
Gun Lobby
Going Green
Veepstakes
Heartbeat away from the presidency
blogosphere
etc.

IBTL, But I asked one of his senior campaign advisors who grew up hunting in S Texas the same thing, and got a very similar and reasonable answer. I say give him the benefit of the doubt. Many a man has been changed by circumstances surrounding him.
Many a politician has changed his story to mollify his audience long enough to get himself elected and then stab his constituency in the back.

Fixed it for you.

Y'know, upon reflection I think we all need to look at the bright side of this. We've made gun control an unpopular enough idea that those who used to push for gun control laws are now claiming to be pro-gun to get elected. I see that as a victory. Wasn't that long ago that these ideas were met with thunderous applause.
