Rifles that can shoot 22 short and LR's??

How about a lever action? The Marlin 39A shoots Shorts, Longs, and Long Rifles. The 39A will just rock on those 'dillos.

All .22 LR guns will chamber and fire .22 shorts. Of course, the shorts may not feed in auto, pump or bolt guns. They'll all work as single shots.

Aguila makes a .22 "Colibri" cartridge that uses a .22 Long case and a 20 grain bullet with no powder. It uses primer compound for propulsion. Very quiet and powerful enough for small pests.

My Rossi 62 does short/long/long rifle...

I'm not positive, but a tube fed magazine may be the only thing that will deal with S/L/LR...

My 10/22 feeds and fires shorts just fine, it just won't cycle them.

I hope your shooting those dillos in the head. I wouldn't trust a 22 short to give a clean kill otherwise, dillos are too big and hard IMO.

I suspect some of the older Remington bolt action rifles will work just fine with shorts. I have never loaded or tried to load my Rem 541-S or -T magazines with shorts or longs, but the manual says they work.

I would assume that any of the tubular magzine bolts made by Remington will feed shorts and longs.

You always have the Marlin 39A and the Remington 572 pump. The Remington 550 is the only semi-auto 22 rifle that I'm aware of that will feed and eject shorts. Both are good rifles.

My Rossi M-62 pump (copy of Winchester) feeds S, L, LR. Shoots some tight groups with the shorts.

Love my Browning auto in .22 short.

CB longs are quiet and feed from mags.....otherwise it's tube time like others have suggested.
A Henry pump with an octagon barrel would be nice!

Do you eat those 'dillos? I've always wondered if they were good eatin', after watching that Willie Nelson movie "Barbarosa".

My Remington 581-S bolt action will feed shorts out of the magazine just fine. Just have to take more care when loading the magazine to make sure they are all in there properly.

All of my .22 rifles seem to be more accurate with shorts, strangely enough. I like 'em.

Remington 552 is the only one I know of that will fire all three.
I have a Win. M.74 semi auto that does shorts only and another
that does LR only. Believe that Browning semi auto still makes
probably on special order, .22 Short only.
Have no idea of your need of Shorts, but cost is close to the same
or more than LR. Plus they are no longer common in all stores like
when I was a kid. If you own a short only rifle, you need to stock up
on ammo. Picked up a carton at Sportsmans Warehouse a couple of
weeks ago, simply because I had not seen them for awhile. Just under
$14 per 500 and Winchester brand.

I got a great one, the Marlin 981T. It's a synthetic Modern tack driver that will hold 25 shorts if you are on urban squirrel patrol or 17 LR if you are out for something more serious. Longs too. Plus, bolt action .22s deliver good energy and I can vouch for the micro-groove rifling because I have a very similar Model 925, which is this gun's LR only clip loading equiv. Best of all, this gun is affordable, widely available, and sturdy as hell. Not to dis the 39A, but that is a pretty old design. This comes with dovetail rails built in.

Most tube feds will feed everything, and a tube holds a lot of short.

Shot some through my old remington autoloader, it would sometimes kick back and feed the next round, sometimes it would stovepipe, might have been the old ammo too.....

These will cycle shorts, longs, and subsonics, in addition to standard

Unsure, but in my experience, pretty much ALL of them will feed shorts *IF* you cycle the bolt quickly. Pretty much ALL of them will jam with shorts *IF* you cycle the bolt slowly.

A good lever gun is hard to beat when it comes to handling the .22 family. Here's my old soldier. Winchester Model 150. Production of these stopped in the mid 70's IIRC. It eats anything from .22 LR on down to .22 CB Short.

I don't know about original Win 62s, but the Taurus 62 clones will NOT - repeat, NOT reliably feed shorts, in my experience. Certainly not as reliably as the ones I posted in my list above, as this is one of my things I've looked into.

"...and save a little cash..." Use a LR. Shorts are usually more expensive.

If you're familiar with CMP for their Garands, they also have some Mossberg M44s.

With the correct magazine, these can take either .22LR, .22L, or .22 short. To use short, there is a screw that goes into the magazine to keep the shorter rounds in place.
