Looking for a .40 and/or a .45 for summer carry

Glock 27 or 36?

You will probably get suggestions for a Kahr P-series, but I personally feel that they are a gamble as far as reliability is concerned. Especially for $650+ dollars. Maybe a CW40 or .45 since they can be had for under $400? That way if you don't like it you can sell it for near what you paid. (My statements about Kahr products comes from a bad experience with a pm9 that left a sour taste in my mouth along with the countless number of instances I've seen online where people experience problems with them)

But I really think a Glock 27 might be what you are looking for. I have a 19 and 26. I had a 27, but sold it for a 26 because I really prefer Glocks in the 9mm flavor Besides, you are already used to shooting your 19. The 27 gives you a smaller package ideal for summer carry and it also gives you the extra "punch" of 40s&w. The 36 is also a neat gun. It's about the same size as the 19, but it's a .45, it's thinner and doesn't have a light rail. You also can't argue with the reliability of a Glock. Good luck!

Since you have a G19 - the logical consideration would be a G23. The transition should be much easier than going to a totally different platform. Also, the Milt Sparks holster should work for both guns.

Go with the CW series from Kahr (CW45), all of the new models now have the kinks worked out. They are easy to carry (thin, and light), and easy to shoot, and they are very easy to sell if your not satisfied. I carry the P45, And heck, I also plan on picking up a up a G19 (like yours) when I shoot with the wife. Cheap on ammo, so Its a win both ways!

In a 45 I would vote for a compact 1911 or my personal favorite a G30.

When I'm not carrying my full sized 1911 you will find me carrying my G30 in a VMII with just a T-shirt as cover. I do not have a problem with either of their bulk even in a GA summer.

I carry a M&P40c in summer in a Desantis IWB holster covered by a t-shirt and couldn't be happier with the gun or conceal-ability.

Taurus PT145 Mil Pro. Yes a Taurus. Its the only one I own and its a great little .45 with a 10+1 capacity. Goes bang every time and is more accurate than it should be.

It's comments like these that really bother me! For all you people that are convinced that Kahr has "worked out the issues," take a look here:

See second post in that thread (and the rest too). Same exact problems I had with the pm9 I bought 3 years ago. The new models definitely don't have the kinks worked out like many people want to believe. Kahr = horrible quality control.
