Rem-Oil but recently switched to CLP...

Had my pistols sit for about 6 weeks with CLP on them and all went dry but not rusted. I think I will be going back and forth between the 2 depending on the amount of down time.

Break free. We don't buy it at work anymore so I keep a bottle of 'private stock' in my locker.

Switching to a poly frame pistol won't change the need for regular lube, the slide runs on metal inserts.

I use whatever is within arms reach. I use Rem-oil,Wd-40,10w30 and any number of oils, rarely any grease. As said above, what you use isn't nearly as important as USING it. I tend to run all my guns "dry",not completely but close.

Wilson Combat gun oil on trigger mechanism, springs, small hard to reach parts, Wilson grease on locking lugs, rails, etc. They make a mix of oil and greases as well thats good for cold weather. Wilson packaging has a little guide on what to use where. Very slick stuff that lasts and stays put

+1 and the grease doesn't seem to "melt off"

+1 on Berry Hill Ultimate Gun Lube. I use it on the rails of my Glocks and really like it. And a tiny tub will last me several life times.

[Edit] Drats, I see he is no longer selling it, is he even still in business at all?. What a shame. Yeah, I've got mine but it would be nice if it remained available so others could experience and benefit from it.

I am not sure if this is true, I just recieved a new tub not even two weeks ago. Might want to check again, he may just be out of it temporarily.

And to the OP, I use the Berryhill lube pretty much everywhere where grease would be used. And then CLP everywhere else for protection and for small parts.

+1 on the Berryhill's. I like it on the rails. I really like this synthetic Zeeox that stays slick after it dries. Don't have the particulars at hand, but it works well and I love the smell:)

RemOil as a general surface protectant, except on mags... Rem-DriLube on those, TW25B on rails.

I would have figured someone other than me would like Gun Butter, maybe it is not as popular as I thought it was. You folks should give it a try.

I love being unique.:D

Good old hoppies on sear, hammer, firing pin and extractor. Everything else gets Brian Enos's slide glide. Re-apply hoppies every month or so on the rarely shot guns but I don't own to many of those. The slide glide stick's and stay's to evey surface you put it on, good stuff for the top end of auto's and lightly applied it works for a long time in revo's.

Shot a steel match 2 weeks ago and it rained hard the whole time. When I got home I noticed that the slide glide had pushed the water right out of the gun. I found tiny little drops of water beading on the surface of the lube. Good stuff.

can i ask how long it was before he last lubed it? if its over a month then it needs to be re oiled most likely just like with any lube

Oh, goody...we haven't a thread about firearms lubricants in over 18 hours. S'pose it's time for a new one.

I prefer Mobil 1 20w50VTWIN for all my firearms lubrication.

:)

I ordinarily use gun oil, but have been known to use WD40, SAE motor oil, Vegetable oil, 3-in-1 oil and others.

Olive oil and beeswax. For my flintlocks anyway. :D

For everything else, it's usually motor oil!

OK, I also have some old bottles of Outer's Gun Oil that I use.
