What's the ultimate Carry handgun

The ultimaate carry gun is the one that works bet for you; it may not work for anyone else, but that won't matter if it works well for you. I have three that are in my rotation at the moment: a Walther PP9C (which is my primary carry piece), a German-made Walther PPK/S (a bit slimmer), and a Beretta Jetfire, which is often used as a BUG. Are they perfect? Well, the P99C comes close, IMO. Wouldn't mind a few more rounds in it, but that's what extra magazines are for, I guess.

As everyone has said, it is whatever gun you like carrying the best.

I was shopping for my first handgun today and was at the revolver counter looking at some .357 mags. A lady walks up next to me, notices that I was holding a 686, and mentioned she had carried one for years. Sure it is a big brick of a gun, but it worked for her.

I will probably get something along the lines of a 9mm Keltec (or similar), but that is just me.

I am the odd ball, Glock 20, 2 high cap mags.
Second choice, out on the town, Colt Officers ACP.
In all honesty, carry a gun you can afford to shoot at least monthly, preferably weekly. Practice is what is needed. Very light hand guns are normally more difficult to make a follow up shot if needed. Compensated guns are real great, but the muzzle blast is normally horrific, I don't carry ear plugs or head cans when I'm away from the range.

Assuming you mean concealed carry, all are a compromise in some way. Each must decide how much and where he is willing to compromise. I have a friend, for example, who will carry nothing less than a .45, and his clothing must be adjusted to allow for this.

I'm not willing to change my attire in any way, so it has to be a smaller, some would say under powered, pocket gun. So for my needs it's the Ruger LCP.

I'm getting less concerned about concealment when carrying locally. In towns of this size, it's very likely that most people assume you're armed anyway. It's just normal here. Always has been. Lately I've just been carrying the Kimber .45 with IWB covered by a t shirt. I won't wear a shoulder holster without a jacket or long shirt.

I already own it

I think that the Glock 23 is just about the perfect CCW gun. It holds 14 rounds of 40 S&W with one in the chamber. It weighs a full pound less than a 1911 Government model with 9 rounds of 45. It is easier to conceal than a Gov't 1911. It is super reliable and, even with night sights, is under $600. It is slightly wider than a 1911 but I can resolve that by losing a couple pounds.:D Unfortunately, rather than lose that couple of pounds I am currently carrying my Kimber Tactical Pro II with 9 rounds. On those days when i can't or don't wanto tcarrying anything as big as the 1911 or Glock, I will carry just my LCP. I say just because it is normally in my left front pocket whether or not I am carrying a full sized gun.

I put handgun in because I know someone is going to say a shotgun or a rifle, so let's be realistic.
Realistically.....My state doesn't allow concealed carry of rifles or shotguns.

What's your idea of the perfect one.
The one that is on me at the time I need it.
.

The only two I carry (concealed) are a Kel-Tec PF-9, or a Smith & Wesson M&P .40 compact. I prefer the M&P, as that would be the ultimate concealed carry weapon for me, personally, but I have to be more discreet at work than the M&P will allow, so I actually spend more hours accompanied by the PF-9. I, like others here, are waiting and hoping for Glock or Smith & Wesson (M&P) to come out with a single stack, striker fired 9mm.

10oz but low recoil and muzzle flip, less than an inch thick, 6 inches long with an 8 inch sight radius, great trigger, large visible low snag night sights, small single stack mags that hold 15 rounds, a finish impervious to the elements, hmmm. That should do it.

Depends on what you are willing to carry all the time. If that's a Glock 22 then good for you. I require something smaller. Today I like the Taurus 709 Slim.
