Does anyone have a dedicated home defense handgun?

Glock 20 with 6 in barrel and night sights.

Although its my HD gun, other than the range, sometimes I'll also take it for a walk in the woods so it can get some fresh air.:)

My old Springfield Mil Spec is currently doing nightstand duty, with my Mossy 590 also close by.

Mine is a Sig P220 loaded with .45ACP Golden Sabres. My wife's is a Taurus 617S loaded with 38+P Golden Sabres. The Taurus "Compact" frame (in between a small and medium) fits her hand perfectly.

I keep a .357 snub loaded with .38 clipped on the bed frame until I can get to a bigger weapon.

my only handgun is a USP .45, so it has to do every job until I get to the longarm.

.357 magnum

My bedside firearm is a Taurus .357 Magnum (ss, 4 inch barrel, six shooter) with wood grips; been for over a decade. Keep it loaded with Federal hollowpoints. Despite what some people say about Taurus, they are now very reliable: when ever I pull the trigger on this baby it goes BANG, (as long as I load it with respectible ammo, of course).

Hmm...

Interesting that the Beretta is mentioned the most in this thread. They seem to really be one of those "love it or hate it" type of guns.

Personally, I have a P99 loaded with one mag of Hydra-Shoks and one mag of fmj available. 2000+ rounds without a single malfunction.

They rotate occasionally - - - -

Right this minute, resting in the drawer at bedside is an S&W M19 4", with two 158 LSWCHP+P up first, followed by four 158 gr. mag loads. There is a spare speed loader alongside, as is a Browning HP loaded with 124 gr. Gold Dot JHPs. Both in same drawer.

Sometimes the revolver is a Military & Police; sometimes the auto is a Sistema 27 loaded with .45 FMJ.

Always two serious handguns, ever since I got remarried.

Best,
Johnny

At one end of the house is the S&W 686-4 .357 6" stoked with Golden Sabres, at the other a Glock 30 with Meps stoked with Corbon Pow R' Ball 165gr.

My springfield mil-spec lives on the night stand. It keeps company with 3 8-rounders loaded with gold dots. The Taurus 85 likes to walk around with me. At night the 85 likes to sleep on the wife's night stand. Since I am firearms poor that covers all of them.

Until I find a spare $200 laying around for my permit, the Magnum Carry is a Magnum Nightstand.

I sometimes keep the FEG hipower at the ready instead, but I like the fact that a revolver is ready to go with no tension on its springs. Besides, 6 full power 158gr hollowpoints ain't no laughing matter.

A CZ-40B and a S&W Model 28 are the primary defense handguns although a number of my other handguns stand their watch now and then.

Of course, these are only backup to a pump 12 gauge.

I can't carry so I guess it'd be either of my Beretta compact Ms. If that changes, it'll probably stay the same except I could add my new S&W 686P 4" to the list....:D
