BEWARE ... MOST PATHETIC SHOW I'VE EVER BEEN TO!

$10 DOOR FEE SHOULD HAVE BEEN $3
I think the promoter was Metcalf.

I've been going to gun shows for 30 years and this was the most pathetic show I've ever seen here ... 4 rows of tables where our other promoters usually have 10-12, and much of the area was just empty ... the isles were so wide you could have set up another set of tables in each one ... and the prices were like Dejavue ... the Obama scare was back!

I was looking at a few AR hand-guard parts ... I could have ordered them on-line and delivered for $25 ... the only vendor that had them cost $45!

I went up and down every isle twice, I was in and out and back to work in under an hour ... people were coming out of the show and warning others on their way in ... I wish I'd had the same warning.

SkyDrive Topeka Kansas? Is this the new guy that runs the auction, and owns Armchair gun show? I know that is out of Topeka Now Used to be Lenexa when Jim owned it I haven't heard really good things about this new guy

I passed up on two gun shows in Tucson today for the simple fact of price. $10 parking and $14 at the door. For my daughter and I would haebeen $38.00 just to get in the door. Plenty of good vendors but at that price I will go to the movies.

His shows are hit and miss here in Oklahoma. You pay $10 at the door, and it's been that way at all the shows for several years now. About the only one worth going to any more is Wanenmacher. He puts on 2 a year in Tulsa April, and November. Sooner's not bad either, but the worst is Claude Hall. The guys at the door buy up the guns before they get into the show.

Glad I did not go to the show today. Even with a free ticket that I got to me gun shows are a waste of time. I have been burned more than once in topeka.

You all see the same things[guns and extras at a gunshop] and the prices are lower at the gunshop. I might go once every 3-5 years. Maybe. rich642z

I like gun shows... but I'm in the DFW area here in Texas. It sounds like they are not all as big as we get here.

Original Fort Worth Gun Show on Oct 9. :) 1200 table set up. Dallas Market Hall is 1500 I think...

Wow... $5 parking and $9 at the door, $7 if you have a Bi-mart card in Oregon for our regular ones.

lot of tables, thick with people, hardly any (edible :) ) nuts and jerky...

I'd say that I feel your pain but that would be a lie ^^. I do hope a better one crosses your path sooner rather than later.

I think Kull Auction bought Jim Supica's operation when he landed the NRA museum job. Kull's been an auctioneer in Topeka for eons.

Thats not the same guy that put on this show ... Its this guy: Metcalf

I've seen/been to a few Kull gun auctions ... Usually a large sale with lots of cool items but several times when I've been there I've seen the auctioneer start an auction with;
I have a sealed bid for $xxx ... anybody want to bid against him?
This defeats the purpose of a sealed bit and rips off the buyer by eliminating his opportunity of getting the item at the lowest possible price. They have a 10% buyers premium which was disclosed and several years ago (the last time I went to one) they charged $30 to do the transfer.

I have a sister-in-law that lives in Dallas and went to that show about 10 years ago ... it was great :) If I remember correctly I picked up a Russian Laminate SKS for $150 and a nice American Derringer in 45LC/410 for about the same.

Our Topeka shows usually have 4-500 tables ... lots of face to face opportunity and deals are usually close to gunshop/online prices ... without shipping and transfer costs ... plus immeident gratification :)

I drove from Olathe, Kansas to the Topeka show Saturday. I must concur with SkyDriver's initial opinion about the quality of the show. I have made a mental note to not attend any of the the Metcalf sponsored events in the future. Had Harrison Street Pawn not been there, it would have been a TOTAL disaster.
