i was stumbling thru Dicks in Richmond today and saw they had Marlin 795 .22s for 99 bucks!! They were the black synthetic stock model. With the Marlin 25 buck rebate thats a pretty accurate little rifle for less than 85 dollars , so i bought 3 of them. 2 for grandkids Christmas and one for the barn. I glanced at their weekly flier while i waited and it looked like they had several other decent deals on rifles etc. Just FYI.

You not only did very well, but every youngster who gets to shoot these Marlins are going to be more than happy. Very darn accurate out of the box.

Oh yeah, just an fyi----for my daughter's 795 I bought an adjustable rear dovetail leaf sight with a V-notch blade from Numrich's. It was only around $12.00. You just take a brass drift pin or a 1/4" wooden dowel, knock the stock blade out (sideways, 90 degrees to the barrel) tap this one in its place and then go to the range. Only took me two small adjustments to zero the gun in @ 50 yards. 1200+ rounds later and I still haven't had to touch it. Very good product at a very good price.

The other thing I did before I even got the gun in my hands was to buy two more 10 round nickle magazines. Which still aren't enough. Think those were around $11.00 a pop, but well worth it. The only other suggestion I can give you is to perhaps pick up one of those 'uploader' goodies for these magazines, 'cuz they're nothing like the Ruger MK III mags that have the pull down button on the side......those Marlin mags are uncomfortable to load & will kill your thumb real quick......:D

Muchas Gracias El Mariachi...good tips....i had planned on the magazines and uploader but not the sight.. my current barn gun is an ancient model 60 thats seen use and abuse..guess ill retire her for the 795.

I grabbed one for $105 post-rebate back in June.

Awesome, awesome guns for the money.
Also, some people have problems with the 25 round Shooter's Ridge mags (Midway USA finally has them), but I haven't. I got one shortly after getting the gun, and it's a great little range mag. Not the strongest thing, but adequate for the range.

I actually went to go pick one of these up a couple of weeks ago at Dick's, but the only one they had in stock had an over/under-torqued (sights were twisted to one side). Not sure how frequent that is but it put me off a bit.

That would have been one of the bad (R)Lemminglins. And it's sad to see that they're still leaving the factory in that condition, despite 12,000 internet pages accurately depicting & proving that this Marlin takeover was/is a frickin bust. My suggestion though? Go back to the store and ask to see more than one of them....and if they have a good one in stock that the barrel is screwed on correctly and is generally in great condition, then buy it....with that particular serial number on the receipt of course.....:D

(Cebreus Group----silently killing off a hundred and twenty years of Americana perfection, one gun at a time. Idiots)

i bought one last spring for $105 after rebate. Fun little gun. Been playing with mine and writing about it here

Going to have to check on the local Dicks and see if they are on sale for the price you paid.

I stumbled across this old thread yesterday as I was doing some research trying to decide on a rifle to bring to an Appleseed event. I was on the verge of just grabbing one online for about $150, and I thought that was good deal! My local Dick's still had a few in stock, so I grabbed one right after work. I'm excited. Plus the rebate is still going on until the end of the year.

10 round nickle magazines. Which still aren't enough. Think those were around $11.00 a pop, but well worth it.

Come on now, that's impossible! The 10 round magazines cost $20 at all the big box stores/local gun stores and the cheapest price I found online was $15 (but they never have any in stock.)
If you are getting them for only $11 please share where this "amazing" deal is.
