Like the title says, It's getting that time for me to make my first carry gun purchase and I find myself in a "pickle". I'm thinking the single stack pps 9mm would make for easier carry thus my carry percentage would be higher which is better then a g26 at home...Then again the g26 has a lot to offer as far as capacity. What are your thoughts? Anyone here carry either of these guns? Pros and cons

The PPS is obese persons G26. Might also want to check out obese persons single stack Springfield XD .45 SC that just about every gun luving person is waiting for.

I've carried the G27 which of course is the same exact size and shape as the G26, it's just a .40 with a couple less rounds, than a 9mm with a couple more. It has been a fantastic carry gun, as long as you put it in a holster. I wouldn't belly band one, (or any other striker fire design for that matter,) I wouldn't pocket carry one, but if you have a proper holster, (I like the galco shoulder rigs, but that's just me,) and keep the trigger covered it is an awesome and highly recommended way to go. The other consideration is that the glock has parts available everywhere, holster options out the gazoo, and the pps is a less popular, hence less supported platform.

So are you saying G26 for "bigger" people and PPS or "thinner" people?

Because that was my concern in a way, I'm not a fat guy and I was thinking the chunky G26 might be harder to hide.
EDIT: I also forgot to mention that for a majority of my day I'm wearing slacks, collared shirt, and tie... Is it possible to belly band the PPS or is it even to big for that? Only reason I mention it is because OWB is out of the question with what I have to wear...

I had a glock 27, I enjoyed shooting the gun, but I sold it because I didn't carry it much. I'd go with a single stack.

I am thin, and in pretty good shape, and prefer a thinner gun, often single stack like an HK P7. In fact I am also considering the PPS for summer carry.

obese folks get slim gun while thin get thicker weapon. another reason to get in shape and be healthier.

 Way to be high road.

Only obese people like single stack guns. If you like single stack guns, it must mean you're fat, and instead of buying single stack guns, you should just go to the gym and lose enough weight so that you can carry two Glocks IWB.

I would think of it differently actually. The larger a person's frame is, (obese or not) the more square foot of area there is to conceal a gun. Therefore, it would seem to me, that the larger you are, the larger gun you can (generally) get away with. For example, I have a friend who has a larger waist than me, and he is taller and weighs more, and he can hide the same gun with less cover clothing on top.

Getting back on topic here...

My vote is for the PPS.

I think it's just an all around better and more refined pistol. It's thinner, has better ergos, is a more pleasant shooter, has a better trigger, and just oozes quality. The mag release design is great for conceal carry (no way to accidentally depress it in a holster)

Yes, it gives up a little capacity to the Glock, and yes, it costs a little more.

But you just can't beat Walther quality.

Be sure you review the information at the Walther PPS forums before purchase. I had a PPS 9mm that suffered slide stop lockup in first 250 rounds. I will say Smith and Wesson customer service is top notch.

I am pretty slender, and I wouldn't want to carry a G26. That thing is pretty thick and blocky, though it's certainly a good gun. I carry a PPS in a IWB holster every day, and it is very comfortable. I think I'd be much more conscious of a G26 stuffed under my belt.

Plenty of people carry a G26 with no complaints though, so perhaps the feel of the gun in your hand, and how well it shoots, might be a better decision-maker. I can tell you that the PPS is extremely accurate, and I find it a very comfortable gun to shoot 100 rounds at a time.

A lot of people carry G26s. I would guess more people carry the G26 than the Walther. I carry a G26. People are different and carry different guns. They often carry something for quite some time and then change their mind. I've been carrying a G26 for three years now. I put it on in the morning and take it off when I go to bed. Its as big as I would care to carry and as small as I'd care to fight with. Will you personally like to carry it? Don't know. Everyone is different.

I'm kinda biased....

I think the Glock has much better aftermarket support (holsters, spare parts, interchangeable magazines).
Glock also has proven track record...although the Walther seems to have no complaints from users....

Also, what feels good in the hand at a gunshop does not always feel the best when rounds start flying downrange.

I hated how Glocks felt in my hand...until I finally shot one!

I must be a fat person crammed into a skinny persons body (somehow!?). I couldn't stand carrying a G26, but I really don't mind carrying a PF-9. That being said, buy the PPS. It's such a nice little gun!

Just my opinion... I'd go with the Glock because of the capacity and the fact that the Glock is nearly 1/4" shorter. Afterall, the grip is what's going to print and the Walther isn't that much more thin anyway (only .14" thinner).

Cheers!

i wear a 26 in an alessi ankle holster. it's very comfortable and I don't have to worry about wearing an untucked shirt at the office. thousands of rounds without a single failure.

^^^ What kind of holster is that?

The holster in wheelyfun66's post is a MTAC or Minotaur Tuckable Adjustable Cant from Comp-Tac Holsters. This is how I carry my G26. It is an absolutely perfect IWB solution for a fat gun like a G26.

I'm not fat or skinny at 6'1 218lbs... I like double stacks and single stacks, does that mean I need to eat more or hit the gym? :D

i own both guns, and if i had to choose b/t the 2, i'd choose the g26. that being said, i mostly carry the pps...

let me explain, to me the g26 fills more roles. it can be your ccw and hd gun in one. it has a longer track record than the pps, and it gives you the warm fuzzies being equipped with 10+1 9mm jhps to get you out of trouble. also, it accepts 15, 17 and even 33 rd mags, making it very versatile. accessories are plentiful and cheap. ie...mags will run you around $25.

the pps is much easier to carry, imho. with the right holster the g26 is no slouch either, but the pps seems so much thinner and more streamlined. i like the ergos on the pps better than the g26. i love the walther mag release and wish all handguns incorporated it. the pps has a limited capacity when compared to the g26, but i def don't feel undergunned w/ the 6+1 pps capacity with a 7 rd reload. the downside is those mags are $50 apiece.

for me the g26 is on my nightstand, and the pps is ready to be carried...

hope that helps...
