Is the G26 too thick to comfortably carry?

I'm *really* close to purchasing my next carry gun. I'm considering a G26 but I'm concerned carrying it IWB because it's so thick. Would I be better off with a Kahr?

IMO,not too thick, just too short to carry IWB,with the exception of IWB appendix, which works well for me with the G26. I'd take the G26 over any Kahr ten times over due to my less than stellar experience with Kahr.
Glock 26 just keeps on ticking.:)

I don't know where people get the notion that a Glock is too thick to carry IWB when the 9s and 40s are actually thinner that a J frame Smith!

IMO, the G26 is not too thick for carry but, the grip is a tad short for my hands & I don't really like digits hanging off especially in a stressful situation. It's just distracting to the task at hand.

The Glock is easy to CC IWB.. IMO, it is easier to CC OWB in a belt holster - Don Hume JIT belt slide or Don Hume 710 First Agent. No worries...

My G26 is comfortable in all methods of carry. I have ankle, IWB, and OWB holsters and they all work fine. My least favorite is IWB but there's a quantifier to that: I currently only carry IWB on dress-down day at work. For the gun to print the least (an issue at the office), I must carry right around 2:30-3:00. This cause the gun to hit my hip bone and gets annoying by the end of the day. That being said, I'm using a cheap Uncle Mike's holster, but if I move it behind my hip, it's fine but it prints more.

The main reason I chose the G26 was because of the height (or lack thereof). I'm a relatively small guy and anything with a longer grip prints badly. I am very happy with my choice. If you don't like the "floating pinky" grip of the G26, look at a G19 or into different base plates for the G26 mags. There are +0 and +2 mag base plates available as well as grip adapters that let you use G19 mags but without the gap.

I'm no fan of a Glock... but do a search to see what I and others have said about the Kahr...

I'd take a Glock EVERY time over a Kahr.

What makes the difference between the Glock 26 and 27? Just caliber? Do you really think the M&P compact is bigger?

Do you really think the M&P compact is bigger?

Largest to smallest regarding these models, directly pasted from Glock and SW Web sites I knew all of this from looking at this info before comparing the G19 to the M&P and the G26 to the M&PC, but when I went to paste this, I was surprised at the G17 being so close to the M&P and slightly smaller, but I know the others definitely feel the way they're measured:

S&W M&P 9 MM
Overall Length: 7.5"
Overall Height: 5.5"
Width: 1.2"

Glock 17 (9 MM)
LENGTH - 186 mm / 7.32 in.
HEIGHT - 138 mm / 5.43 in.
WIDTH - 30 mm / 1.18 in.

Glock 19 (9 MM)
LENGTH - 174 mm / 6.85 in.
HEIGHT - 127 mm / 5.00 in.
WIDTH - 30 mm / 1.18 in.

S&W M&P Compact 9 MM
Overall Length: 6.7"
Overall Height: 4.3"
Width: 1.2"

Glock 26 (9MM)
LENGTH - 160 mm / 6.29 in.
HEIGHT - 106 mm / 4.17 in.
WIDTH - 30 mm / 1.18 in.

See the comparison chart of glocks at http://www.glock.com/english/index_pistols.htm then click 'Models' to see the grid of sizes, and see comparable 'compact' models to the 19, and comparable models to the 'sub-compact' 26

FWIW, I think the M&P series' contours makes it feel a little smaller than it is, though. But lining them up side by side, seems to reflect the measurements above...

Hope that helps.

I am a Glock fan all day long. I carry my G23 OWB as much as I can and have no problems concealing it. Its the same width as a G26 and of course has a longer grip angle.

That said, when I carry my G26, its a non issue as well. I dont have ANY experience with a Kahr, so I wont get into that battle.

.

I don't think the G26 is too thick for carry. Depending on your carry
style and body type, you may very well find it too thick. If its causing
that much doubt, get something thinner.:)

Glock=Block. Personal preference, but they're too "blocky" for my taste. I tried CCW with a 29, but have gone back to a 3" SP 101 wheelie - thinner profile.
