Do men and women feel the same way about guns

As with any generalization, this shouldn't be taken as a statement of truth brooking no exceptions.

It's been my experience that you'll find more interest in recreational shooting amongst male shooters while as a group, female shooters seem to be less interested in the recreational aspects of shooting and more interested in the practical aspects--particularly self-defense.

Agreed entirely. And also with the same disclaimer as you, I'd say it seems women tend to usually see guns only as a means to protect themselves. A lot of the men I know who shoot don't carry, don't keep the guns loaded for HD, they simply shoot for fun. It has been my experience that men are generally drawn to mechanical things (cars, guns, tools, legos) much more than women are. Maybe it is societal influence, maybe it is inherent in our nature, who knows, that is a whole other discussion.

People from a large city both men and women seem to be more afraid of guns because they were never around them.People from small towns or the country were usually around guns and accept them.My girlfriend was very anti gun until some of her neighbors had their homes broken into and she realized she had no way to defend herself.
