Hello all at work today I thought to myself how cool would it be if Walmart would sell reloading supplies so. I asked someone aka my boss how to get the ball rolling
so to speak. He told me the best way to start is to mail a letter to corporate asking them if we could start selling these items. so I am would there be any interest in such a thing. If there is the mailing address is as follows:

Walmart Home Office
702 SW 8th Street
Bentonville, Arkansas
72716-8611

There are already Walmarts that sell reloading supplies. It seems to be a regional or a store-level thing.

Walmart's stocked products seem to vary greatly between markets.

i c

oh i didn't know that where I am from they do not. I looked online couldn't find gunpowder or primers or brass for that matter

They used to in my town but that was 20 years ago. Back then they also sold handguns but it all changed whebn that Cherryl Crow song came out.

In 1993, Walmart announced they were stopping the sales of handguns 1 Feb 1994.

The Sheryl Crow song referencing guns and Walmart was on her self-titled album released in the fall of 1996.

I think any connection would be tenuous at best.

"Now you know, and knowing is half the battle."

The reloading sections in the WalMarts I have seen are pathetic and can't hold a candle in selection on any LGS or SW that I have seen. Their prices don't do anything for me either.
If for some reason they decide to dedicate 2 isles in each SG section in all their stores I don't doubt that they would blow all the others out of the water but I don't see it happening.

Walmart prices on reloading gear, plus my associate discount card would be alright...

The walmart in Jerome, Idaho has reloading supplies. Dies, bullets, books, tools, and a small selection of powder. I never saw primers there though.

As an ASM I'll tell you you're wasting your time going this route. Your letter will be redirected (as a letter to the president) to the local store you referenced and you may get a call back from an ASM. Being your ASM told you this line means they haven't a clue as how to request or change traits in their store.

As an associate you might (I know I can) actually look up the traits available for sporting goods on the WIRE, I forget the direct path but I think you can link to it from the department homepage. A memeber of salary management will have to call HO and request the trait change; minor stuff I've been successful in adding/removing traits but some things have to go through your Market Manager. For instance I couldn't add or remove traits for firearms but I can do so for videogame magizines.

Even if the trait change is successful, it may take until the next year's modular reset for the section to be added. Unless you have flex footage in your area, some other mod will have to shrink in footage.

I hope this helps, I've been debating putting in a request myself.

The only Walmart I've ever been in that had reloading supplies was a short 125 drive one way. Needless to say I didn't make any special trips for supplies but would pick up things when I had business in that town.

I was there last week for the first time in 6 months. They have done the store shuffle where they move all the departments around and guess what? No more reloading stuff.

I don't know about other areas but the general trend in my region is that the sporting goods section of the stores has shrunk drastically, especially the firearms part.

My local store has to be one of the worst ones the company operates. Lots and lots of empty hooks and spaces, rude employees, store is just dirty, and very few cash registers open. None of the others I occasionally go to are like this.

That sucks. My Walmart has had reloading supplies for years. I never gave it much thought. They only carry RCBS stuff at mine, and very limited on what stock they do have.

WalMart operates on a dollars per square foot per month. I've seen three WalMarts enlarge their firearms area. Others have much smaller areas.

I was curious about availability of "shooting stuff" at one store. The clerk brought out a very large catalog, indicating that the store could order any item listed. I know that applied to rifles and scopes as well as ammo; dunno about reloading components.

So ask the WalMart clerk about catalog orders.

Depends on the LGS and the Walmart store. I have three Walmarts - one does not sell reloading supplies, one carries a few things and the third carries shot, powder, primers reloaders, wads, etc. It all comes down to the dept and store manager - if they think it will sell, they will carry it; also, it helps if those mgrs. themselves are hunters/shooters. The third one has more reloading supplies than any other store around here, including the Dick's and Gander Mtn.

Doesn't much matter to me though, as I buy my stuff through my local gun club to avoid hazmat and freight

My local WM put long guns back in the store last year, and in the last few weeks has reorganized their Sporting Goods section to expand their shooting stuff, holsters are back, lots of "self healing" reactive targets. No reloading stuff yet, but I keep hoping.

we had a reg walmart store that sold guns and eloading equipment, then it went to a supper walmart and no more guns, so my friends and my self stoped buying any sporting stuff from them, then after about 2 years they are selling guns again, but none of my friends or me will buy from them, were gona wait 2 years and then maybe.:neener::neener::neener:

Wally World's store inventory on ANY item(s) corresponds directly with where that particular store is located. Gun related inventory will obviously be in states/locales that are substantially more "gun friendly" (legal stuff ya know). Every store falls under some kind of demographic that even predicts whether chicken sells better than pork or a particular patterned blouse is preferrable in the south versus the southwest. Go figure ;) Even though we're in Texas our local WW doesn't offer reloading supplies, just cleaning/target/ammo and this past year, even a few long guns.

It seems that most all of the large stores have buckled under the stigma of being associated with certain things. Marketing and brand positioning is very important in these United States.

Ahhh.... you people in the Free States make me jelly!

Our Walmarts in Kalifornistan will sell reloading supplies soon after we spot the flying pigs. :(

I was visiting Salina, Kansas a few years ago & imagine my shock at a fairly good selection of supplies at the local Ace Hardware! And the nice lady at the counter knew her guns & ammo better than a lot of "gun shop" guys I've seen here.

Some stores in Oklahoma sell reloading supplies. RCBS, Horndady, and Sierra products with Hogdon powders.

Their prices don't do anything for me either.

Unfortunately, their prices are significantly better than the LGS. I wish it weren't true, though.

Here's a quick phone camera shot of the reloading supplies:

To the earlier question about not seeing them on walmart.com keep in mind that Wal-Mart and .com are 2 different businesses. Items can be sold through either or both channels but they are not connected 1 for 1.
