The usual media nonsense.

I'll bet the NYPD is reading those papers very carefully hoping to hunt down and destroy those guns and/or their owners. After all, no one is allowed to defend himself or herself in Bloomberg's Perfect Paradise for Criminals and Mafia thugs.

I noticed that odd description when I originally read the article, but was more surprised that these named individuals were admitting to being armed. I wonder if they have the required long gun permit from the NYPD.

Ah b'leeves Moe Sizlak, the barkeep on the Simpsons, has been seen (and heard) racking his double barreled pump shotgun.

It's on TV so it must be so.

The ignorance of the media and its efforts to mislead the public doesn't surprise me. What does surprise me is how many people still believe in the main stream media.

No doubt the local constubulary will decend; after the looters have left ! If nought else to punnish the survivors !

FWIW, I suspect what's being described are old Ithaca/Mossberg/Browning/Winchester pump guns that will "slam fire" if you hold the trigger back while cycling the action. Not neccessarily a "bad thing" ! >MW

Ahhh, this takes me back in the THR wayback machine to Deer Hunter's Remington 1740 Project!
If you haven't seen it yet, it's worth a look.....

It shoots those double-ought slugs that fragment into rusty scalpel blades and used needles upon impact with human flesh. Its made by black rhino or something like that.

Actually, one of those barrels is a bayonet launcher.

After reading the article I think it is just another example of poor english skills from a journalist. I think the writer was trying to tell us that the gentleman has two pump action shotguns. Truly a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I'm pretty sure the people interviewed were ignorant of NYS self defense laws. Also, the posturing was more of a fifteen minutes of fame than a warning to potential thieves.

The NY Times had a photo of a man in Long Beach, NY guarding his house with a pump shotgun. Had family in that town way back when. Used to stay there for summers.

Here's the point - when civilization fails, Chuck Schumer or Mayor Bloomers are not going to stand in front of your house. But they will have guards. But you won't have guns if they had their way.

I was thinking, maybe the guy in the story had one of those new Kel-tecs - that might be described as such by a putz from the NY Post. :D

Nope, the Mateba is real.
It's a revolver that fires from the bottom chamber and uses the gas to recock and index itself.
Always wanted one, never wanted to shell out the money.

It's just like Valve did with the game Half Life. They saw the magazine tube on the SPAS and thought it was a second barrel, so they made it a double barrel pump-action shotgun in the game. Was pretty cool for the game, though. Left click for one shell, right-click for two. Firing two shells had double the power, but double the recoil and ran you dry quicker. I'd like to see someone make a working version in real life just for proof of concept (that, and despite all the negative reviews about the SPAS-12, it is an awesome looking shotgun).
