Over Shooting a gun

Any gun has a service life. Some will go much farther than others but they will all wear out at some point.

When I shot competition (USPSA) many years ago 1000 rounds a week was not unusual. Yes, I reload (like a maniac) And yes, you have to buy primers by the case and 8 lb. canisters of powder. But it was fun while it lasted and I learned a great deal.

I'd look into getting a couple of new recoil springs and recoil spring assemblies, to replace as needed. The little XDs is darn rough on those.

the original poster hasnt writin back yet i dont think. maybe he shoots 800 rounds per week for 1 week per year. or hes a got a lot of extra coin laying around for bullets. makes you wonder dosent it?

I know you save money reloading but dang, is it that much cheaper where shooting that much is not that big of a deal?

I buy locally in small quantities. I pay full pop retail & save about 50% over pre panic retail on my ammo. You would save more buying online in big bulk quantities.

Sometimes. Disregarding the cost of the brass - which you use over and over - the cost of reloading .45acp is around 17¢/round. So, yeah, it can be considerable...especially if you're shooting that much.

If you cast as well, definitely.
I can load 1k rounds for about $65 or so and that's not even buying components in bulk. If you buy powder by the 8# and primers in bulk, you could shave a few dollars off that.

I've put over 300,000 rounds through my Glocks. Tens of thousands through the individual Glocks. Never a problem. You won't wear out a Glock barrel....ever.

The OP was talking about an XD. However you are correct, I'll never wear out a Glock barrel. :D
