Well I went and done what I formerly thought I would never do. I "drank the koolaid". Not the Glock koolaid, did that once, no thanks never again. I drank the "mouse gun" koolaid. I came across a pretty good deal on a Taurus TCP and figured I'd give it a shot. I always saw these little guns as a gimmick or novelty and have always subscribed to the philosophy of a little heft in a firearm never hurt anything. My EDC is a Springfield XD SC 9 so it's not huge but definitely not small, not compared to the TCP which it dwarfs. Plus with the mouse guns the best flavor you can get is the ever contraversial .380. All that being said, I kinda like this little booger and I can see why they are so popular. It will never be my primary carry but with its small size and shootability it will serve nicely as a BU/weak side gun that can easily fit in a pocket and is still enough gun to be an effective deterrant. Even with the off hand this little Taurus is easy to shoot with its light, smooth trigger pull and the recoil is manageable however I know I will need to practice more with my off hand since it will be on that side predominantly. Even though this is a close up gun it is accurate enough at SD range. Painting the front sight will probably make it even easier to shoot at 7 yrds or more also. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the TCP and think it will be a good addition to my carry options.

I actually watched that when I was deciding which .380 to get. The last round lock back feature and trigger pull are what made me decide on the TCP. As far as the issue he points out, that seems to happen with all these types. I haven't had an issue even when rapid firing. You have to let the trigger reset with any gun. Practice and train then practice and train some more. Also if it happens its just like a misfire, TRB.

I traded in a Kel Tec P3AT for a Taurus TCP. It is a more advanced gun in that it has a slide lock and the slide locks back after the last shot.

The trigger is better and so far, it has been more reliable.

I looked at the LCR as an option as I reload .357 but the dimensions are basically the same as my XD and the XD doesn't pocket well. With a length of 5.3" and height of 3.5" the TCP goes in any pocket, my wallet is bigger. 6+1 capacity and the ease of another mag instead of a speedloader. Plus the price difference, $200 cheaper is what sold me on it. The TCP truly is a pocket gun.

A friend of mine recently got one and showed it to me. I found it to be pretty handsome and smoothly put together. If I didn't already have a deep-conceal mousegun, the TCP would probably be what I would have gotten. (The slide-lock was one of the things I was looking for in mine. That, easier shoot-ability, and an extra round in capacity, led me to the Kel-Tec P32.)

My brother-in-law carries one. He decided my sister would carry one as well. She's had it about a year, but hasn't shot it.

Mouse guns have their uses. You can carry any way you want, and it's so light and small you don't notice the added bulk.

During the summer in shorts they really feel nice.

THat's why i carry my Ruger LCP in an ankle holster all the time...

Youl will be surprised how the .380's power has been upgraded with the more modern powder and projectile. The Hornady Self Defense has excellent reviews on ballistic gel from a short barreled LCP similar to the Taurus TCP.

The Deep South is prime mouse gun territory, especially for us old farts simmering away in Florida. I like the NAA Black Widow in .22 Mag and also think the little Seecamp .32 is cool. A mouse gun needs mouse bullets.

I like my P3AT, it rides in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster, very comfortable, and it keeps the excess pocket lint out of the pistol. I rarely carry it as my primary, but I'd still rather have a mouse gun than no gun, and sometimes you just can't carry a "real" gun. These type of pistols have a legitimate place in anyones collection of carry guns.

I have looked at many mouse guns - don't have one yet but the TCP is next on my buy list. Slide lock back is a nice feature - but the main difference for me between it and the LCP is that I can easily fit my trigger finger between the guard and trigger on the TCP - not so on the LCP. If I am in a SD situation, I don't want to be fumbling to get my finger on the trigger...

I've pocket carried the LCR in dress pants for quite a while. The shape of the cylinder breaks up the printing. I tried pocket carrying a LC9 and that printed badly.

Good luck with the TCP.

My Kel-Tec P3AT is my no excuse for not carrying gun. I'd rather have my PPS .40, but sometimes in the Texas heat, that little tiny 380 is a good fall back.
