I've been wanting one of these for a while but not willing to pay a crazy price. I packed up a rifle I wasn't using and headed off to a LGS to see about trading for something I would use. Well, LGS offered me more than I expected for the rifle, he had a fairly priced PMR-30 under glass, a deal was born :)

I've never shot a PMR-30 and it certainly won't win any awards at a handgun beauty pageant, but 30 rounds of 22 mag sure sounds like fun. Maybe some folks here have one, shot one, or just have thoughts about the pistol they wouldn't mind sharing?

Here she is:

Use ONLY 40-, 45-, or 50-grain ammo.
Fatter, jacketed rounds work best.
They all seem to love Federal Game-Shok 50-grain & MaxiMag 40-grs equally,
hard part is finding enough...

Other than that, keep it as clean as an M16, clean after every shooting session...
no matter how many shots are fired, this thing runs best clean & dry...
as in LIGHT Oiling/lube...One Single Drop applied with a fingertip all over the action,
allow to air-dry or wipe off excess, then reassemble.

Also benefits from the usual Keltec Fluff & Buff techniques...
but try it out first, sometimes a 250-500rd break-in period solves most hiccups.

Night Fire is so much fun with these it ain't funny :)

Watch every Jerry Miculek training vid you can...you can fire these so fast it seems like full-auto...
fun part is, even at a fast rate of fire, they're dead-on if you do your part due to low recoil

Mine only likes hotter ammo like the CCI MaxiMags. Lots of fun to shoot.

I sure wish someone would make subsonic ammo so it would be a better candidate to suppress. :D

Congrats on your find!

If someone is looking for one of these, CDNN had some recently. They may even have some in stock at a reasonable price.

I have one and had about 400 rounds through it. No major problems. I did run a dremel with some jewelers polish on the feed ramp before firing as I do with ALL my pistols. Only issue I had was the magazines seem to be cheap and I have had a few failure to feed's. Kel Tec took the magazines back and replaced them right away. I have not fired the new ones.

IT is fun as hell, no recoil, pretty accurate....It is also LOUD and produces quite a flame ball. I eventually will add the barrel with the flash suppressor on it.

Congrats! I have one of the earlier ones with a smooth finish on the polymer. It broke the take-down pin at about 1,200 rounds; KT sent me 2 replacements at no charge, but I've yet to need the 2nd after another 2,000 or so additional rounds.

These things are just plain fun! Pretty reliable, too, with ammo they like. I've had good luck with any of the premium stuff, in addition to the cheap Winchester Dynapoint ammo. With hot loads like the CCI TNT 30 gr, the gun sounds like a rifle! The only stuff mine didn't care for was 40 gr. Federal ammo (both JHP and FMJ). It ran OK, but was not accurate.

Only other issues I had were traced to one bad magazine out of the six I bought. KT offered to exchange it, but I never got around to it before the BS mag law passed here in CO.

Use ONLY 40-, 45-, or 50-grain ammo.

What makes you think one can't use lighter ammo? I've had great results with both CCI 30 gr. and Remington 33 gr. ammunition.

Grandmaster, I think that if you try to suppress a PMR the back pressure will cause severe problems. From the instructions that come with the threaded barrel;Use of a suppressor with the PMR-30 pistol not recommended
Due to the unique locking action of the PMR-30 pistol and the lightweight slide and barrel, the use of a suppressor is not recommended as it will cause an increase in gas volume and pressure and the slide will likely unlock early.
This will cause an increase in gasses and residue that is ejected back towards the shooters face and could also cause a case rupture to occur. Any damage or injuries caused by the use of a suppressor or other heavy weight muzzle device attached to the PMR-30 pistol will not be covered by any warranty.

Why not just run a .22Lr if you are going to use subsonic loads anyway.

Kel Tec says not to suppress and gives that warning...however youtube suppressed PMR-30. There are PLENTY of videos of people doing it without any problems. I am not reccomending it, but it appears it CAN be done.

I sold my PMR...it was a good pistol for the money..I paid $289 OTD. I'd never pay MSRP for any KT, so over MSRP would be a no go for me.

The trigger on my pistol was very good for a sub $300 pistol. I shot mine very well.

In the end, I sold every KT I ever owned, which was a few of them. I would never trust my life to any KT.

The amount of stuff I've "Gotten Away With" over the decades is truly amazing...
which, looking back for a moment, still amazes me...

Do wish I'd listened more to warnings and taken a few more closer to heart...
would have resulted in less scars...and a whole lot less aches in my bones now

One place I don't mess around is with Firearms Warnings...
thankfully it has paid off nicely over the years with me keeping all fingers, ears & eyes :)
Worked enough "Incidents" with the VFD to see that exceeding MFR's tolerances can be quite bad...
