Kel-Tec PMR-30 - Opinions?

The one I've got hasn't been shot a LOT, but I've put several hundred rounds through it.

It's simply amazing. Shoots like a LASER! I've had no problems with the mags -- but too early to say they're trouble free.

I got mine as a home-defense weapon for my wife, who can't shoot revolvers well and can't seem to handle the slides on most guns. (And yes, we've tried many different techniques...) She can handle the PMR-30 slide, holding the slide hand against her abdomen/hip and PUSHING the frame with her strong hand.

Using the new Hornady Critical Defense round for the .22 WMR, the PMR-30 performs ballistically at least as well a most .380 rounds, and you've 30 chances to hit what you're aiming at. The new Hornady round was designed to use powders more appropriate for handgun barrel, while most .22 WMR rounds are best used in rifles.

Would I carry it as a personal weapon? Probably not, but if pushed, would prefer it over many others weapons of lesser caliber. (I've gone the .380 route with several different pocket guns. I might prefer a Beretta 84 if I had to shoot .380, or a CZ-83.)

jrdolall I have owned one for a couple of years, did not know (or forgot) that you could fire LR out of it.
NO! You cannot shoot 22 LR out of a PMR-30. Sorry if my post gave that impression.

jrdolall - I wondered about that (using LR). Even my Ruger uses separate cylinders for LR & Mags. ;)

Now, it's the "3-day wait" for me. But, with the weather supposed to go into single digits this weekend (after a record high of 71 last Saturday!!), it may be a while before I can test it!

NUTZ!!

We shot 250 rounds this morning out of my PMR-30 with zero malfunctions. I only load 25 rounds in the mag. The cheapest ammo I have found lately is $.25 per round so it costs more than many centerfire guns. I can shoot my AK's and AR's much more cheaply.
