Last week, I was in a LGS and was looking over their PMR-30. I really liked the red/green fiberoptic sights but was a little put off by the light weight of the gun. :scrutiny:

I haven't been able to find any reviews of this gun and I'm wondering if anybody could give me some feedback on this gun, especially if you have any links too.

While I already have the Ruger Convertible SA revolver, the idea of 30 rounds of .22 Mag in a semi is appealing. ;)

If you know of any other .22 Mag semiauto handgun, I would be interested in learning about it as well.

Thanks.

My first handgun was the AMT Auto mag II. 6 inch barrel, 9 round magazine. It's one heck of an accurate pistol and I've never had any problems with it in the quarter century I've owned it.

I've yet to make the leap on a PMR-30 simply because of the looks. It just doesn't appeal to me visually.

Thanks for the Youtube links. I have trouble with them (choppy) because my DSL is only getting ~1.2 Mbps but those links led me into others.

Thanks!

I have one and it is a blast (literally) to shoot. I got really lucky and got mine below msrp a few years back. I wouldn't buy one at typical street prices. Saving my pennies for the CMR-30....the carbine version of it.

I was close to grabbing a PMR-30 but the deal fell through

Then I heard the announcement on the CMR-30 so I figured I'd wait

Still waiting, but I figure one way or another ill end up with a Kel Tec .22WMR

You haven't been able to find any reviews of this gun, really? It's, perhaps, the most scrutinized pistol Kel-Tec makes, there are all sorts of reviews and opinions on this pistol.

All that said, I own one and I love it. Sure, it's light, but when you add a full 30 round mag to it, welp, it gets heavier. I love the sights, very useful. It's very easy to shoot, the trigger is good enough for me. It's easy to break down too. All-in-all, if you can find one for the right price--and this is really the key--then go for it.

If you can find one at $425 or so then buy it. If you can afford to pay $.28 per round to feed a gun that will shoot 25 rounds in 10 seconds (that is $7) then buy it.
I own two, one that is 3 years old I think and another that I got right before Christmas 2014. Loading the mags can be problematic and they can be subject to rimlock if you aren't careful. For some reason, new springs maybe?, my new gun doesn't like a full mag and will hang up on round one. Easy fix with a tap rack but I only load 25 now rather than cramming the mag.
I took an 11 YO out yesterday and fired 150 rounds through the gun with zero malfunctions of any kind. I have only run CCI and Hornady Critical Defense through the new one and it works fine with both. We quickly switched back to 22 LR after three boxes of the CCI 22 WMR. That sucker is LOUD, just like any magnum, but it is a hoot to shoot. I did have the front site work loose shortly after I bought it so I am glad it is fluorescent green or I would have lost it in the grass.
I am also planning to get a CMR-30 when they become available.

Absolutely love mine, It is a little expensive to feed but mine is accurate and reliable. No complaints at all.

If you can find one for a decent price then scoop it up

Fun and very easy to shoot. I have had issues with the magazines feeding but overall it is a great gun. Easy to shoot but creates a huge muzzle blast. Eventually I may get the threaded barrel wth the flash reducer.

Guy at the range had one and he said it works well, provided you load the mag correctly. I didn't witness his jamming after an hour's worth of firing.

Two things I noticed, the muzzle flash was impressive...on par with 357 sig. Also the muzzle flip was literally nil. If you didn't know any better you'd swear it was a 22lr.

The PMR30 is a wondrous thing. It is loud and flashy. While it is ostensibly a 30 round crittur the mags work/load better with 25. I have been able to shoot several and all have worked quite well so long as the magazines are loaded with care.

One of the guys at the club bought one. The thing is a hoot to shoot! My old eyes love the sights.
I would buy one, but don't need one more pistol. Fun gun though.

I have not seen one at all around here! I would love to have one at a decent price. The carbine will probably be out before I see eather one! I have a bunch of .22mag. ammo as I own a Taurus 941 Rov. in .22mag. Great caliber! Wish they would make it available again!

None of them that I have personally witnessed being shot, or have shot myself, were reliable. Two of them would work as long as you didn't put more than 15 rounds in the magazine.

Pmr30

I've owned 3 PMR30's. The first one did jam on occasion. The next two were perfect. I still have one. I mounted a Burris Fast Fire II. It is fun to shoot, very accurate, very reliable, good trigger, weighs almost nothing and has high mag capacity. It has never jammed or misfired in several hundred rounds.

The definition of a "bunch of ammo" changes quickly with this gun. I have a Heritage revolver and a Savage bolt in 22 mag that I have had for years. i always kept a "bunch of ammo"...until I got my first PMR-30. With the revolver and the bolt I could enjoy a day of shooting with 100 rounds. With the KT I can enjoy 5 minutes with 100 rounds and it is GONE.
Ammo is available online but rarely at good price. For some reason KT says NOT to use imported ammo which is no problem as all I have is CCI and Hornady.

Shooting rimmed cartridges out of a staggered magazine requires that the shooter understand the phenomena of rim-lock, and why it occurs. Pay attention to the loading, and the guns work fine. Get sloppy, and reliability suffers, as it should. Put 400 rounds through one recently, without a single failure.

jrdolall I have owned one for a couple of years, did not know (or forgot) that you could fire LR out of it.

I have fired quite a few rounds .22 mag. out of mine, no malfunctions to date.

The trigger is like a target .22.LR, I must have fired a million rounds of .22.LR from expensive European target pistols, so I am familiar with loading a rim-fire magazine's. Definitely would be a candidate for a suppressor!
Can dream about the carbine.

The first PMR 30s had fluted barrels and did have problems, however, Kel Tec fixed that problem with non-fluted barrels. If you have an older PMR 30 with a fluted barrel, I think Kel Tec will replace that barrel with a new one.
