To make a long story short, I noticed a range regular with a new rifle. I casually ask about it and he states " It's new, but I had it in the safe for 12 years and finally took it out."

What??? I can't stand a week, but 12 years. Really?

longest I've ever waited was 3 months, and that's only because it was on layaway!

Must be nice to have so many other guns that you just never get around to one or another of them. Heck, I usually plan a trip to the range the very next day after getting a new gun. Just can't wait to rock 'n' roll with it.

I have a new Walther P5 that I bought direct from the Walther factory in 1983 (while I was stationed in Germany) that I've never fired. Also, I have a used Remington 1100 that I bought from a friend in 1986 that I'll have to try out one of these days.

Ask me in couple yrs. :)

I sold Ruger Mini 14 I bought in 99. I sold it in 2013 (IIRC) and had never fired it. I bought it online, picked it up at FFL and realized its sized wrong for me. So it stayed in box. (I did buy spare 5 rd factory mag, aftermarket 20 rd one) Got more then couple bucks more then I paid for it.

I have a Enfield in 308 I have never fired. Must be close to 20 yrs. Already have a scoped 308 so no hurry.

Have a barreled action in 30 06. Its mate to 06 I have. Parts to make it complete rifle $$$ so being kept for parts/future needs. May run into kid who has interest. I think it would be easy (relatively) to make stock/ turn it into single shot fairly cheap.

I bought a 1911 .45 and then had to wait 6 weeks before I could find any ammo for it. I dry fired a lot of "holes" in the targets before finally getting my hands on some real ammo!:)

I think all of a week, and that was a black powder gun where I could only shoot it at an outdoor range that was open on the weekends only.

Everythin else, MAYBE 2 days at most LOL!

I have a Colt Government model that has been waiting since 1987 for someone to shoot it.

A year, maybe two here.
I went to a gun show in search of a project. Ended up with a Carcano for $40, tossed a new magazine on it, and now it only has some feeding issues that I'm not altogether sure how to fix, but it's a handy little things.
Then the car broke, a source of income dried up, the Carcano's not worth enough to put time into selling it, and I just haven't been able to get to the range since.

I have a beautiful, possibly un-issued 1983 vintage Yugo SKS I bought in I think 1999. Cleaned the armory cosmoline out of it, sun baked the cosmoline out of the blond stock and rubbed in 4 coats of gun stock oil. Sure is pretty. Bought a 1/2 case of South African brass cased ammunition. It's never been shot since I've owned it. Maybe next spring.....Don

I have about 15 that are unfired, almost all C&R's. All are rifles. Some go back to 2006.
I've never gone more than a few weeks to shoot a newly acquired pistol.

I've got to start to work on shooting those Enfields,Mausers,Mosins & Steyrs.
Why did I buy them if not to shoot? I'm starting to feel guilty. :( The acquisition dates in the bound book don't lie. :banghead:

I have probably a dozen or more handguns that I have never shot. Have been too busy to even think about getting to the range.

I've got my collection whittled down to only a few guns. Most of them I've never fired. I got them used, so I'm sure they have been fired, but I never have.

I really don't have any plans to shoot them anytime soon. Or I might shoot them tomorrow.

Do multiple generations count? My dad captured a German officer at the end of WW 2 that had an unfired walther pp. My dad never fired it, and neither have I.
