I purchased a Vbob online. i loved many things about it, one of which is the speed bump grip safety, for feel, i like it better, also for looks, though thats not as important. however, my Vbob doesnt have the speedbump safety on it as i see pictured on there site, as well as the user photos i have seen.

anyone else have this happen? maybe im just being picky, maybe it should be a big deal. but for me thats a good chunk of change on a pistol, and i spend a long time choosing what to go with. the Vbob had everything i wanted exept an ambi safety, which i dont mind purchasing on my own as i wanted the wilson combat bullet proof ambi anyway.

Sounds like the prior owner changed out the grip safety for a non-speed bump style...a picture would really help here.

You could contact them to see if they still have the original grip safety or you could just get one when you get the ambi thumb safety...they'll both need to be fitted anyway

there is no prior owner... i just purchased it new from buds.

i have contacted CZ, but there amazingly slow to respond.

as for the ambi safety. i didnt plan to send it out. i am ordering the ambi, and having a local smith do the work (the best i can find in my area, it seems everyone i know uses him and is quite happy with his work).

and yes, the photo is my gun... did i do something wrong?

I'm still confused

This is what a VBOB is supposed to look like

Are you saying that you've seen/handled one with more "bumps" on the grip safety...to what end?

Looks to me like his grip safety has a single raised portion were the other pics show multiple "bumps" on the raised part.

It looks like he has a speed bump but his doesn't have stippling (for want of a better term) on the speed bump itself.

Ah, you're talking about the horizontal serrations across the face of the speed bump.

I always hated those and it isn't like they serve a purpose except to abrade your palm...but to each his own...ground down the ones on my last 1911

The bumps on my Valors GS do nothing. Not sharp enough to even feel.

To be honest, I like your's better. Without the bumps, it looks more solid and substantial. Fitting I guess. That is what I first noticed the first time I picked up a DW. How solid it felt.

There were some irregular DW's early on when certain suppliers couldn't keep up wit parts or something. I wouldn't sweat it.

thank you fellas. yes, that was the differencce.... cz finally got back to me on this as well. they said that the serrated grip was an ed brown part, and they started using there own in house grip safety, thus the change. i would have liked the photos to be updated but, oh well. its no big deal...

the hammer falling to half cock when the slide is dropped is an issue (i try not to drop the slide anyway, but old habbits die hard and sometimes i do it with out thinking... the hammer fall is intermittent, and seems occur more often when the hammer was previously resting on the firing pin)

It's bad mojo to release the slide stop on an empty magazine and just let the slide slam home. Don't make a habit out of that. But, on a properly tuned 1911 the hammer shouldn't follow unless your trigger pull is really light. On your V-Bob you should be able to cut about 25% on the back of the sear to eliminate creep, get a reliable trigger return, and end up with a 2.5 lb. trigger without hammer follow.

I would never trust Buds pictures . I have contacted them several times about American Classic 1911. That its not a Bersa . Yet last time I looked was still under Bersa. They have no connection with each other Other than same importer. . Even Eagle(the importer) has tried to get changed.

the hammer falling to half cock when the slide is dropped is an issue

Thats not right It needs to be returned to DW . My Bobtail has a very nice trigger and doesn't drop like that. If did would be on way back.

Yes, as said above... Drop the slide on an empty chamber on an expensive 1911, and you will screw up a good trigger job fast.
