Not that it really matters to me. I own a CBOB. I passed on the Valor to get a LNIB Les Baer and the same $$$ point. So if Dan goes this route it does not effect me but it sucks to see these good companies go the wrong direction in the marketplace.

Well I could be wrong. Keep an eye on things and see what develops.

I did not say, by the way, that S&W dominates the middle of the market. Neither did I say or imply that S&W makes better 1911s. I said the middle was crowded and that may be a factor for DW. True that.

And I really wanted a razorback... If CZ keeps going, they are going to price me out of their business. And that California thing lost em alot of points. I would rather build them for everyone and let California suck on it. I have a feeling that if they actually do this, it will be a long, drawn out end to DW and maybe even CZUSA itself.

I highly, highly doubt that. DW isn't exactly CZ's cash cow. They don't make nearly enough guns to be.

I am also scratching my head. I'm a done deal Kimber guy, but I've been fascinated watching the word-of-mouth for DW grow like crazy for the last couple of years. It was really looking like DW had found the best all-around compromise of quality and economy, but someone decided it wasn't enough. They can compete with Kimber in their price bracket, but I don't think they'll do well against Baer in THEIR price bracket.

It's all relative, everything goes up. What it costs this year will be a bargain in five, same as next year.

The 2010 models have yet to hit the street or be priced for sale. Those price points may not be set in stone.

If the bulk of the pistols produced are Valors the price has to go up by at least $400. A CBOB will cost you $1000. A Valor will cost you $1400. These are todays prices.

it's just annoying that their going with different parts and forged frames, blah blah blah... when the current package is FANTASTIC... Why mess with it?... change some colors, bob a few other models and keep the prices as close to now as possible.

1400 now price for a valor + another 400?... Ummm.... i'll be looking at a Fusion/STI and several others for that price.

Don't worry too much guys. I'm sure the prices will drop after they move all the tooling to the czech republic and figure out which 1911 they want to sell and build and keep on the model list. It will be a CZ Dan Wesson!

They were a good alternative to Kimber

A great alternative to Mimber! In my opinion a forged frame DW will be worth the extra money.

Oh, by the way, our money won't be worth anywhere near as much next year anyway, once everyone realizes what the Fed is doing.

A great alternative as in it's more reliable and more accurate? That'd be impressive since mine is 100% reliable through thousands of rounds and has shown a level of accuracy I can't personally match. What else matters in a defensive handgun other than these two things?

So what you're really saying is "No real life benefit but at least it's scarce and costs a whole lot more!"

i agree... while this looks bad, cz is 100% in house, and i'm sure the prices of the dw line will reflect that once everything is settled in. cz's pricing itself has gone up a little bit in house over the past couple of years, but i always kind of expected that considering they were relatively new to the u.s. market due to the behind the iron curtain embargo. so they started out with a lower initial pricepoint to get attention. i hope this is the case as i like dw.

What I'm saying is I'll never buy another expensive gun that is loaded with MIM parts like Kimbers are.

Kimbers cost enough that they could put forged or barstock parts in if they cared about selling to sophisticated buyers. They are riding a rapidly disintegrating name brand wagon.

I think I just saw a wheel roll off to the side! :D

Agreed... New shooters that don't know what their getting into know the name "Kimber" and will buy them... not all, heck... I own one and shoot it well and its a great gun, i don't think they are the quality gun they once were for the $$$... Just like people new to guns know the name "Glock" they see a 1911 and learn "Kimber" and its their flavor of koolaid
