After years of reloading, I finally picked one of these up and I love it. I reload on a Pro1000 so I have to run my cases through twice now but it sure is worth it. One of these days I will break down and get something with more stations but, since I only reload for handgun calibers, it does everything I care about at the moment.

I have been just visually inspecting the cases but, as I have gotten older, my neck seems to crack and pop more these days, especially on higher cases like .357 or .44. My hope is to be able to minimize that.

It is only designed to detect no charge or double charges so I was pleasantly surprised that, when adjusted correctly, it will lock out charges that are +-.3 grains.

One question I do have for those of you who use one. Do you trust it 100% or do you still visually inspect each case? I have gone through a couple of hundred rounds but I am not quite there yet. My hope is to not need to do this but I am still not 100% confident.

Trust it 100%.

Never had even a close call with mine that was not a "real issue".

I will be infinitely happier when I burn up all of the pre-lockout ammo I have made is gone. I trust the lockout die more then I trust myself to check 100% of the cases.

I should edit to add that I even have 2 of them. One setup for the big tester foot and one for the small. It was easier to have two then switch the feet.

To be honest - I've gotten to where yeah - I trust the Lock-out and while I try to visually see the powder in every case, I'm not too concerned if I don't see every single one. Without fail it locks up the press if there's ever an issue (which isn't common, but has happened).

I honestly wouldn't use a progressive without one.

I also have one for each tool head (5), I have a hard time seeing the powder in my Pro 2000 and so far, they haven't let me down, 100% trust.

I really, really like mine. I also have two of them, one for smaller cases and one for larger cases. I wouldn't be without it now that I've got them.

When I first started using one, I would trust, but verify. Now I pretty much just trust, but still looking inside the cases when I think about it.

Hope this helps.

Fred

I have learned to trust mine to the point that I'm going to rearrange my dies to include a bullet feeder in station 4 of my Pro 2000, which means the LO die is moving to station 3 on my Pro 2000. I have been using it in station 4 and also visually checking the powder before I set the bullet manually in station 5. The only times (twice I think) that I missed a charge somehow, the LO die caught it before it got around to me for a visual check anyway. It sorta jars your teeth to get your attention, but it DOES get your attention when it blocks the press.
