I am having trouble getting my shell plate bolt to go all the way down through the hole in the shell plate platform on my 550b. Any body else have this problem. I am thinking it might have some burrs on it although I don't see any.

Any ideas, maybe I should get a new shell plate bolt from Dillon

The only time that happened to me was when I didn't realize that indent ball had popped out and rolled into the bolt hole. I used my son's magnet kit (think it was from Walmart) and the ball came right out.

Hope you figure it out soon, I know how frustrating things like that are. But unless the bolt is bent or broken a new one will probably do the same as your current one is doing.

it looks like there are some gun powder particles down in the hole the bolt goes into. I tried to clean them out with a moistened q-tip but the stem of the swabs are too flimsy.

Try a full sheet or more of paper towel(s).
Twist it into a cylindrical shape.Push the pointed end into the hole, twisting in the same direction as the twists you created, as you get deeper, it will get tighter. Force the paper in twisting as you go.

You will eventually fill the cavity with paper towel. Keep twisting to try and clean out threaded cavity.
Try it dry and wet, oil, cleaner etc.

See if that helps clean it out.
