Need some quick advice on a PS90 deal locally. Guy has one that's never been fired with box and paperwork and says he'll take $1075. I know that's a really good deal on the gun, but I don't really have the extra cash to buy it right now. The guy lives a good ways away, but he's coming to my area tomorrow and could bring the gun.

Do I suck it up and buy it or do I let it go?

That's a good deal, the two extra 50rd mags are worth $25-$30 a piece.

If you're a first responder, LEO, military, etc.. you qualify for FN's LEO discount. They run sales a couple of times a year. My son and I each bought the same model PS90 as High Plains has in that ad for $830 each + shipping last year. If not, High Plains' is about as good a price as you'll find.

They're great little guns, very versatile and a ton of fun to shoot. My advice, though, if you haven't got the money right now, don't buy the gun. There are always deals to be had, as you can see by the link Jackal posted.

you pretty much answered your own question already

it's a gun. one that you don't need. don't stretch your finances to do something silly

Thanks fellas. Thought it was a good deal, but apparently nothing special. No need for me to get in a financial pinch if I can get a similar deal down the road.

An extra $25 is nothing.... Don't get hung up on that.

If you want a PS90, wait until you can swing it without hurting. If you pay $25 too high, make a note and ask yourself if you care about that $25 in 10 years.

I never understood adults who come on firearm forums to ask what we would do.

We are not in your situation and only you will know if you should make the purchase. Seems like if you don't have the funds, then the logical choice would be to hold off on the purchase.

You cannot buy every good deal that you see and your deal isn't that great. As others have stated, FN offer LEO/military blah blah blah members deep discounts on one firearm purchase per year.

I can't tell you whether or not to buy it, but it IS a great deal of fun. I reload the little guys and that's a real time consuming labor of love, and I DO love doing it.

I just really don't see the point in these.

One third the muzzle energy of an AR-15, same caliber but lighter bullet, for twice the money per cartridge. The long barrel sticking out and lack of full auto capability suck any benefits of the real P90 out the window. This is coming from somebody dead set on buying a PS90 several years ago. Now, I'm so glad I didn't after learning more about firearms.

That said, it's your money... but quite frankly you just openly admitted it's money you don't have right now. I vote "stay away" and don't do something silly.

Terrible trigger IMO. I much prefer to shoot my AR57 uppers on any of my AR lowers.

I tried to like the PS90 but it went down the road.

"How come that tiny little Lotus with the wimpy engine costs more than an F150?"

:banghead:

Be warned, OP/anyone, the first time you slap a mag in wrong you will pinch the holy hell out of your palm ;)

I finally got one of these recently, although I like Cooldill, have lost much of my enthusiasm since I first lusted after one about five years ago. Not because "there's no point" to the gun, but because FNH didn't take the idea far enough. Had they used a true locked breech in order to hot-rod the ammo a bit more and reconfigured the sight base lower (especially in the advent of rail-mounted optics, something more like the aftermarket 'anvil shaped' recievers are a far better idea), and possibly tweaked the rather outlandish styling of the gun to be a bit more comfortable at the foregrip, it would be even more compelling as a PDW (which, semi-auto form, is a concept almost perfectly suited to stationary home defense use). The HK MP7 is actually a very good concept, with the exception of the awkward magazine length, and its ludicrously expense/exclusivity. It's a shame NATO didn't just order the two to collaborate when HK demanded a seat at the table, and instead canceled the program ("now no one gets it.")

26" long and 7 pounds with 50 rounds on board (shorter and lighter than any loaded AR).

Less recoil, report, and flash than a 223 (easier for the wife to operate when you're out of town).

Delivers "enough" energy to stop people within personal defense differences, and holds 50 rounds to compensate for the fact that a "good" hit rate by trained personnel (cops) is around 10%.

It's a PDW, not a battle rifle. It was designed to allow people who aren't infantry to effectively stop the aggressor, and it does that very well. It's not the best choice if you're kicking down doors for a living.

If I were the OP I wouldn't buy it, if you don't have the cash you don't have the cash, save up until you do.

I was going to leave this thread alone because it looked to be solved.

I like the PS90 but I can't get excited about it for a 10 spot (whether I had the money or not). At 9 bills it's interesting. 8 would be better. Discount or not. It's not worth (to me) what some are willing to pay. If I had the money I would negotiate. If not it's a moot point.

Currently being between jobs, I second this. In fact, I may not buy another gun for a very long time as all my needs are well taken care of.

Does the one your buddy has have the optic or is it the rail? There is a price difference between the two and the one linked is the rail.

You probably answered yourself when you said really don't have the extra cash. If it was a better price for a local buy, I might be tempted to say get it.

I love my PS90, awesome rifle... for what it is. Keep in mind it isn't an AR or AK or whatever.. it's a PS90. With that in mind, you'll love it. Buy it in place of something else and that's when buyers remorse might set in.

Fun, accurate, reliable, light weight, 50 rounds...

Cover your other bases first, then buy it as a "I've always wanted this" and you'll be happy as a clam.

Start making compromises and trying to put it beside something else and you might wind up disappointed.

Either way, I love mine.

I thought it was a very interesting gun, and had some interest in it until I held one. The center of gravity is far back from the grip, so any time it's not at your shoulder the muzzle tilts up. Bringing it up into battery involves levering the back end up to my shoulder. Theoretically "six of one, half a dozen of the other" compared to front-heavy arms, but the balance was just so alien I lost interest about three milliseconds after picking it up.

I really *tried* to like it. I have no problem with the 5.7's ballistics, I think the magazine is nifty, and since both my wife and I are left handed, I thought the bottom ejection was the cat's posterior. But the gun felt incredibly awkward.

My wife still wants one, but she'll have to purchase it with her own money, no halvsies for me. And I'm still annoyed that my DPM somehow became "her" gun...

Don't do it. As others have said, it's not that great of a price. Good job holding off when you saw it.

I don't have one, but want one. If I get one, I'll go ahead and get the SBR version.

@Rodentman
Is the reloading especially difficult or is it just laborious because of the number of rounds? Can you use bulk 55 gr bullets? What's your cost per round?
