Top 5 "privilege" guns you'd own??

Hey guys. I'm picking up some extra income pretty soon...taking on a little more responsibility and it'll come with some extra pay. For awhile it'll be considered completely extra income that I'm not dependant on. So I want to add a few items to my gun case.

The top 1 item that I am buying is a Barret 50 cal. A friend is selling it with a nightforce scope, case, and about 50 rounds of ammo for 3.5k.

Following that..I've got a lot to consider..I've always wanted a PS90, M1 Carbine, M1 Garand, Keltec RFB, K31, Glock, Savage 12FV, FN5-7....The more I think the more I want....But I'd like to get more unique stuff that's a little on the expensive side since anything else I can generally afford relatively easily. Expensive being like $800 plus.

Right now just looking into options. This window for purchasing stuff won't last but 5-6 months..then I'll have to be an adult again and make some adult decisions, lol.
 
K31 is a fine rifle. If you shop around you should get a good one for 300 or less. Get an
M1 Garand just for the history. Have fun. I'd suggest budgeting some of your money for ammo, reloading, and more trigger time.
 
A vintage target rimfire: Winchester 52 D, Remington 40x, Remington Model 37....unfortunately $800 is about the entry point. Good vintage glass will cost about as much as the rifle.
 
Put a M1 Garand high on your list. There is a lot of history within that gun. It is an honor just to be able to hold one.

Springfield Armory Service Grade Special from CMP for under a grand delivered to you door.

Personally I would put a Sako TRG 42 on my splurge list.

And the Barrett you mention would be on there too.
 
Get a TRG-22 with good glass for a great gun you can afford to shoot.

Get a very good 1911. Minimum Springfield TRP or a Les Baer or a Wilson. Fullsize (5")

A good O/U shotgun. Beretta 68X or Browning Citori

A top drawer. 223 like a Cooper model 21

That should empty your wallet and set you up with a very nice gun in each category.
 
Sauer 202. Beautiful, excellent and extremely accurate rifles. Let your pocketbook and needs be your guide to the particular model and make sure and match exquisite glass to it. If you hunt, you owe it to yourself to own one.
 
Get a Ruger No. 1 in whatever caliber you want. They are BEAUTIFUL.

A registered Full-auto AR-15 lower. After that, let your imagination run wild!
 
Pre-1968 Walther PPK 22LR, with all the goodies: 2 clips (1 with the pinkie extension), minty box, owner's manual(s), factory target.

Figure on spending $1400 to $1500 for a really nice specimen.

Uhh...don't wanna sound like mom or dad, but appears to me like you're a lot more worried about blowing away some money than getting something worthwhile. When you say

sounds like you actually have zero idea of what you want.

If I were coming into extra money, I'd stash it back and make a rational decision. Getting a complete stranger's fantasy gun "just because" crosses over the border of foolishness. You can always spend it but you can't always make it.

I had a safe full of guns "just because". After looking at them for maybe 20 years and never shooting most of them, I sold over half of them off. What's the point?? Now I have stuff I use. Good stuff. High quality, accurate.

If you're really intent on burning thru some cash, I'd get a GOOD reloading set up. Dillon or Hornady and an electronic dispenser so you can shoot what you get. Seeing all the threads about ammo availability should wake some guys up.
 
I really don't know what all is out there in terms of "fancy" guns. I enjoy shooting what I have and the rifles I do use are already high quality. They may not have the best looking wood on them, but they're all sub MOA rifles. Most of the real guns I use, with optics are already 3-5k$ guns. So I'm good there.

This is more about picking up something fun and exotic plus a few guns I've been wanting awhile. Again, without knowing what's out there I come here for suggestions.

The money will burn a hole in my pocket. So to speak. If I don't spend it, it will get spent. Lol. Wives and all that. I'm sure you can understand.

Please keep any and all suggestions coming. I have two Ruger #1s already and I agree they are beautiful. I also own an Anschutz 22, so Id have to handle one of the classic rimfires to see if it'd be an improvement. I can appreciate the history, but from a history perspective I'd probably be more interested in a mil-surp of some kind.
 
I think your top 5 "privileged" list might be a bit more tactical than mine, but If I had some money to blow on high end firearms, I think I would get these:

Chapuis double rifle
Blaser R8
Sako 85 Bavarian Carbine
Saco 85 Grizzly
Cooper 54 Custom Classic

As it stands, I believe if I had a large lump sum coming to me, and no financial constraints, I would pick up the Blaser or the Cooper and invest the rest... There are some good rental type properties that are still devalued around here.
 
I second the idea of a reloading setup. It will certainly pay off nomatter what other firearms you obtain with your extra cash. Also, if you really have your mind set on the .50, you should probably invest in reloading equipment for it- better to pay up front for an expensive reloading setup than to pay a ridiculous amount for factory ammo every time you want to shoot it.

If I didn't already have a .458 Lott, I'd probably try to find something unique and exotic with nice wood, like a cz 550 in .505 Gibbs or something like that, or maybe a Sako 85. But if you dont have a Ruger No. 1 (mine is in the aforementioned .458 Lott), I would definitely try to track one down. Ruger severely cut down their No. 1 offerings this year. The quality is great and they are stylistically beautiful- one of the classiest guns around IMO.

Personally, I'd probably purchase something fully automatic if I were looking for an expensive tactical-ish firearm- thats one thing that wont go down in value any time soon I wouldnt think.

But $3500 for the barrett is preddy dang good. You couls easily resell it and the scope for somewhat more than that.
 
The M1 is a rifle that fooled me. When I came of age to buy guns you could buy an M1 in any pawnshop for around $100. Older men told me not to buy one for many reasons so I never did. Every time I shoot one I have to put that fake smile on my face and say that is a nice rifle. After that I leave the premises as fast as possible before I say something that would cause me to lose a friend.
 
Sounds like a good price on the Barrett. The Carbine and the Garand are fun to shoot. Personally, I find the others to be under-whelming, but that's irrelevant. :)

There's a guy in east Texas who makes lightweight small-caliber double rifles, if you want something out of the ordinary. They're not a Hummingbird double rifle (go Google) but they oughta be fun guns.
 
I have my share of "privilege" guns. .17's through the 50 BMG. I handload 40 sum odd different cartridges at the moment and with this thread got me to thin king with whats going on today.

If I had $15K-$20K to blow on fun stuff I would have a 5 Dillon Super 1050's set up in 9mm, 40S&W, .45ACP, .223 REM, 300BLK and 308 WIN. Probably five or so Dillon XL650's for stuff I don shoot as much to go along with all the other handloading stuff I have acquired over the years. With the left over money I would stock up on brass, bullets, primers and powder.

I have to agree with this. If I were buying a Barrett .50 BMG I'd want to have a lot more than 50 rounds for it!! I'd buy cases, bullets, primers and powder in sufficient quantities to cover the life of the barrel ... at a minimum. With something like 200gr of powder per round you'll need to stock up!!
 
Get the PS90. This is a niche gun and hasn't seen the price run up that other rifles have. Plus with a 50 round mag capacity it is one of the most likely to be banned.

I bought one last month for $2000 new in the box. Ammo is the big worry since it is all imported. I bought 500 rounds of SS195 at a cool $1 per shot. Atlantic Tactical claims to have it for $0.60 a round (I just ordered 1K), but we will see if this is actually in stock or not. Otherwise you can get on the back order list at www.fivesevenammo.com. I trust them to come through if anybody can.
