I was wondering why my dust cover had gotten loose... I just checked the rear-trunnion and I can see gaps on both of the rivets and the holes. Ser# J00053XX....
For $300, yes. A normal, mostly-matching Carl Gustaf M96 runs a shade under $300 bucks. A Vasteras sight is easily worth $40 (if not a few bucks more).
If you pass - email me the dealer's info! ;)
Well, I haven't read every word in this lengthy thread, but I haven't noticed any mention Smallbore Cowboy Lever-Action Silhouette yet.
The Marlin 39A is the defacto rifle for this sport, in which you fire off-hand 40/60 shots at 10/15 metallic chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams out to 100 yds...
Yea - J Frames are a 10 foot defensive weapon and a good one for it, but oodles lighter (assuming an Airweight or Sc/Ti) that a Glock will ever be.
So long as you are comfortable with it, you'll be better off, but I'm a weight weenie.
Can someone tell me anything about my 870?
It looks to be a full-size 870 with a factory 20 Gauge barrel that is made to fit the larger 12Ga barrel port.
Are the internals different than a 12Ga?
Any special appreciation or disdain for them? Sought after or avoided?
Thanks. --M
Guess what I found this year... Some D*mb*ss left his hunting ammo in the leather loops again and while a few cheap shells didn't mean much before, this time I left some rather expensive rifle ammo in the loops to crust over pretty good...
I understand this Green Gunk is called Verdigris...
Yea - .308 WIN and 7.62x51 are not exactly the same. The 7.62x51 brass flows a bit into the .308 chamber and gets stuck. I have this same problem with my Savage 99's.
I had a Lone Eagle in .30-06 and it was "neat enough", but fairly impractical. I switched to a S&W .44 - less weight, more...

I want to save those for that rainy day when the price of .308 surplus climbs to the point where I stop buying it.
Man - I've been hearing this for 20 years....
I had it out at 15yds off the bench and it would just stay on a pie plate.
I had an old Ballestar Molina .45 that put 2 magazines into a fist size hole shortly after.... it was sad... :banghead:
I picked up a used Taurus 92 for different project but I've found this used piece is a bit of a scatter-gun.
Out of curiosity, what would it take to regain normal accuracy? Just a barrel swap or is there something else inherent to keeping decent groups?
The biggest problems are the magazine well needs to be a smidge wider front to back, and the ejection port could use some relief if you want to eject loaded rounds.
Anyone making a .357 SIG 1911 yet?
