Marlins are exceptionally strong as mentioned easy or quite simple to take apart and do a thorough clean. I've owned a few and now none. If I was serious in buying another levergun for a handgun cartridge that is I would lean toward the Puma in the .454 Casull...have the dies, brass, bullets etc...
personally, as mentioned the cold blues don't wear all that well. Duracoat is just a "paint" as liken to Krylon.......it works and has wear certainly, I've tried them both. What I have found that works well if you don't use too much humidity is Laurels Mtn. Forge browning. Browned my Win. 94...
if it is just a home remedy polish then nothing wrong with the polishing set up or Emery cloth or crocus cloth....you're not taking metal off you are "polishing" perse'. But then again if you are not adept then by all means "find" a [B]good[B] gunsmith and he in short time or order will have it...
I have tried this website www.creeker.net/ but to no avail. Understand these are very good bullets in the Keith design.
I shoot the Mt. Baldy Keith 250 .430's currently. Any one have an idea on whats up with Dry Creek?
regards,
Hawkeye .308.........of course.
edit: after all these yrs. of shooting a few Rugers "CRF" I had to try the "snap-over" the round feeding you mentioned-be sonofagun! It does.
any real adavantage? dangerous game yes-all of mine here in the upper interior of AK. is CRF. But advantage I believe with the push feed is the concentricity of bullet to bore. You see more push feeds shooting more precisely in shooting matches etc.
I have owned quite a number of push feeds...
bolt guns, do have only 1 semi, that is the M1 Garand. Mostly controlled fed actions - M98's. Favorite is my FN Higgins .30-338
excluding .22's of course.
am considering in pulling a barrel on one of these and what can I expect? I have action wrench an bbl. vise for both the Win/Mauser-this should work correct? With the Rem. 30's I have read sometime back somewheres that there is some difficulties in pulling them-maybe torqued on pretty tight...
wyocarp, if I ain't done anything right why am I still here after enough grizz I have shot and the ribs I have ate. Don't hold water? Buddy, I have been charged/bluff a few times, actually more times than I like but never "attacked". I am certainly not like the likes of Timothy TREADWELL-I go...
yep, congrats! For both the Garand and your baby-pretty cool! My wife too seeing the lethality of my Garand and my wish gun of the G20- she bought me the G20, then we had our first grandchild. Something about things coming in 2's.
good for you!
wyocarp, you are saying something that I am not. reread and catch that part about being familiar. I have lived here all my life and I do know what exactly I am talking about. You can live with your scenarios, I will live with my lifelong experience and share what I do know.
The odds of my house...
it is not likely you will encounter anything serious-the odds are in your favor. most large predators avoid man in most instances but there is that 1% that will............practice your mental preparations in picking up and acquiring your target and being absolutely familiar with your rifle. You...
I have owned 2 casulls and can attest to its weight carry deficit but.......boy are they something! They shoot the big mid 400grns with great accuracies-a sure fire compremize in close. Many cannot shoot them good or at all so here comes a rifle in subject.
Some say the only reason they own a...
just a fast note on the Rem. 405's loaded by Alaskan Ammo yrs. back--it penetrated a 60" bull at 75 yds for half the distance in the chest cavity! shocked! It did kill though. I began my loading after that with hard cast and always satisfied with the end results.
