I want to target-shoot in my garage, what are some good setups? BTW, I'll be shooting a .22LR. I've considered a thick wood 'box' (for lack of a better word) full of old magazines/paper with a big carpet backstop.
That's nice, I love the Washington State Patrol stamping on the receiver, and the gun itself! I had a Brolin 12Ga that looked vaguely familiar, I regret getting rid of it.
Sounds like a good plan BoostedXT, I've held a security-barreled fully-stocked 12-ga with a pistol grip (It was a quality stock) used by an on-duty LEO. And it felt great, it was nice, compact and sturdy.
Besides, yours was free, no loss there! Good find! What are you doing for the barrel...
Nice, EKA. I use this lube I got from Radioshack, I've been using it for about 3 years now, and love it. It's pretty thick, and doesn't seem to attract much dirt.
About a year ago, I was at my preferred public outdoor range, shooting. I had my .22LR, among a couple other long arms. I noticed a father with his 2 kids with him, a boy and a girl, about 6-8 years old. He was shooting centerfire rifles, and his kids and wife were there watching. I could tell...
Le Vieux, it has nothing to do with 'too much for wimpies to handle' If you want to talk about wimps, I'm a 320-lb weightlifter who's deadlifted 425 lbs, near a quarter ton (I get told I don't look nearly that heavy all the time) and the 'pain' is not bad to me. Not very Highroadly, and the...
More importantly, I'd consider what is more important-over-penetration, or more effectively stopping an intruder. Let's say you shoot him/her with small birdshot, they run off, and what next? Take a whole family hostage? I'd take the more reliable people-stopper, and go with some buckshot, or...
I had put about 4 ounces of #7 birdshot in the stock of mine, but it made way too much noise. So, I took it out. I had a slip-on shock-absorbing recoil pad on it, but it made it too long for me to comfortably hold. So, I also took that off. For now, I have added mass to it by adding a slip-on...
I paid $500 out the door for my shelf-model Savage 12fv, and I couldn't be happier with it. I love how it feels when I hold it, it fills my hands well, and it feels solidly-made. I want to put some weight in the stock, to help balance the heavy barrel out.
I chose the AR, since I live in a suburban-ish area, and I'd like the better accuracy over the SLR. If I lived in an urban setting, I'd go for the SLR. In an outright rural area, I'd take the M1A
I've been hunting several times on 'Mostly deer/hog hunting, but we bring .22's with us for small game if it's slow' And I have to say, I must have some type of hunting ADD, since I largely prefer small game hunting. I tried dovehunting for the first time last season, and brother, it was FUN...
I was trying to tighten the screw that holds the blade in place on my SOG Trident, and it looks like it stripped. I can stick an allen wrench in it, and it's still pretty snug. But the wrench will spin without the screw if I apply any torque. What should I do? I know that I can slot the screw...
I've been around people who carelessly handle firearms....but not a second time. All you need is an ND, and (if you've got a stable mind) you SHOULD straighten up and handle that gun like the proper tool it is. You don't go around throwing scissors in the office at your job. I'd be far more...
I have a SOG Trident I carry with me to basically all places (where weapons are legally permissable). But, I've heard that carrying a lock-blade knife is illegal, or that if they're longer than 3 inches, it's also illegal....I think they're just rumors, though. I am 23, have a clean record, and...
Do y'all think I'd be ok using Federal 5.56 m193 ball ammo in my .223 savage 12fv? I had 2 boxes, they're in good shape, and when I got them, the boxes were sealed (no mismatched rounds). For shooting at the range, would these be ok? The rifle is unmodified, and I've shot 2 bullets from it, I...
