This is what I came up with. 6' tall in the back, 3' tall to the table top. 2' deep, 5' wide. Allows plenty of space to work on multiple phases of reloading. Drawers and shelving add great storage areas.
Smith and Wesson 29-2, 6.5" barrel, 95% condition. $300 4 years ago.
Had looked it up in a blue book of guns, it said $350 for an excellent condition. 300 for great/good.
Picked up a 686 4" with beautiful wooden grips at a show 3 years ago for $425. I'd rate it 90% easily.
It evens out...
What I find interesting is that in almost each photo 2 shots are closer together and there is one further away.
I understand there are many nuances that go into it all, but have you tried moving in to 50 yards and seeing the results?
I could be off on the scale, but for that kind of rifle I...
I cleaned out the shell releases, and double checked the magazine tube. I have a bore light, and when looking down it it looks like a shot barrel. Clean and shiny.
I figure the shell releases can't be an issue as the shell is coming out and they are out of the way at the time.
Upon inspection...
Well, it went about 80 times with no hangups. I set it down for a while, and when I came back to do some more, it got stuck again. But only on the very first cycle. After that it works every time. If I leave it alone for a while, it does it again on the first one, but after that it's ok.
I...
I'll give it a good cleaning, thanks for the tip.
Anyway to tell offhand what gauge the lifter is? The auction stated it was 12 gauge, but I know people make mistakes. I fired it today no problems. The only issue was feeding, and only the single shell. If there were 2, the first fed fine every...
Parkerized is a very durable finish, and will protect better than bluing. But it lacks in aesthetic value for me.
I've never had any issues with bluing other than when I was younger and didn't properly oil. Only happened once.
If you don't mind the look, go with parkerizing if durability...
Hard to do anything wrong with a pump. Sounds like you've been around guns, but I am unsure if you're new to shotguns or just pumps.
If you're new to shotguns, it's simple. Shoulder it firmly, keep your cheek weld while swinging the gun, keep the bead level and let fly.
As far as the type of...
I have an 870 express that I bought solely for the purpose of deer hunting. I was in college at the time, and really wanted a wingmaster (partial to walnut stocks and blued steel) but I ended up with this.
I used it as it was until this spring. I bought a nice walnut stock for it on ebay, and...
The Winchester load you mention is what I shot my first deer with. It blew through him like he wasn't even there. He ran downhill maybe 40 yards.
Accurate. Deadly.
They work.
A boxer primer has an anvil built into the primer, thereby when struck by a firing pin it is compressed into this anvil, it is ignited and passes through the flash hole into the propellant.
When it is berdan primed, the anvil is actually built into the case itself, not the primer. Rather...
For future reference:
"Oh, check your tone girl. Keep your inside voice on, before I put your [fanny] outside."
"I don't care who you are, who you think you are, or whoever it is you want to be, but in MY home, with MY wife, we will raise OUR kids how WE see fit."
"Let me have your...
The first deer I ever killed was with a 20 gauge. Rifled slugs.
Get what you really want, but know you have what works. If you can't get closer than 50 yards, I'd go rifle.
I've personally never seen anything as devastating on a deer as this.
A roughly .75 caliber entry hole with a more than double exit hole. They don't go far. But to each his own.
If I were to pick a rifle, I would select it by the terrain I plan on hunting. Is it open or wooded? Both...
