Yeah, I tend to spend a lot of time prepping the LC and Winchester stuff I have been loading so far, so I am used to that. In fact I spend a LOT of time on my 308 reloads too :)
It looks like one of the easiest ways to get decent brass is just buy the loaded stuff, shoot it, then start using...
I am going to be doing some 50BMG reloading for my McMillan TAC-50 here soon and I am wondering what ya'll might recommend as good brass to start collecting/buying.
I have experience doing 50bmg reloading for a Barret <I forget what model> semi-auto and my requirements there for...
The recoil doesn't bother me much, though I haven't shot more than 100 rounds at a sitting/standing... The PTR is super accurate, with both irons and the Fero-Z scope. I throughly love the rifle.
After reading the posts, I think I will hold off on the "new stock" option, and just enjoy it...
All these years I have been holding it up to my shoulder, now you tell me it is my face I am supposed to use! ;)
I had a feeling that smaller butt on that stock might make for some more recoil fun. Though the normal stock doesn't bother me much at all.
Yeah, that is kinda what I was wondering, about how it shoulders. I also have the Fero-Z scope on there, and I was wondering about even getting my cheek anywhere near the right position. Obviously there are draw backs to the thing...
I have been looking at getting the G3 collapsible stock for some time. I am wondering if anyone has one and can comment on how usable they are. Pros/Cons etc.
The rifle I think is capable of sub MOA. I have on occasion done 3 shots in a group less then an inch at 100 yards, and less the 2 inches at 200. Though I tend to not be patient, and then go for a quick 4th and 5th shot and mess the whole target up. :)
At this point it is me that is holding...
Yeah, that is the kinda info I need :) Makes sense that not having to walk back and forth a lot to see readouts would be useful.
Anyway, thanks everyone for the help.
That makes sense.
Basically, I can measure my bullet drops to determine how my rifle is shooting at various distances so I can create a table to help me remember adjustments for my specific rifle, but I don't have enough data (true BC, etc.) to make declarative assumptions about velocity...
Ahh, I will check that. I left it at the default. Where do you measure the scope height to? Center of the objective?
Also, I should note that I have a 20MOA base on the rifle. I didn't think this should effect anything, but maybe it does?
Yeah, that is exactly what I was thinking. There isn't even load data for pushing the bullet that fast (nor was I trying to ).
The scope is a Leopuld Vx3, so I assume its adjustments are true. It may be that I am just shooting low at the 200 yard target, making my adjustments off.
I have...
I started doing some reloading for my .308 recently and I have a question about velocity.
First, I do not (yet) have a chronograph, and I am not super concerned about absolute velocity, except that it is interesting to me.
I am loading 168gr Sierra Game Kings with 43gr or Varget and CCI...
I have a Savage PC Model 10.
I can say it is shooting just fine out to 300 yards for me. One of these days I will take it up to the new range that has just opened up (around our parts, I see you are in Round Rock) and see what it can do out a little further.
I did have some fun getting...
A friend of mine brought an interesting rifle to the range yesterday and I want to find out a little more about it.
It is marked:
VOERE
Vohrenback Germany
and in Script letters: "Shikar"
It is stampted .243 Caliber on the barrel and besides the serial number a 68 on the barrel as well...
Update..
I received the Warne 20MOA base today and went to the range...
I now have a nice amount of UP adjustment from 100 yards, ~33 MOA with my setup now. This will almost get me the ability to zero at 900 yards by my estimation. Since I doubt I will ever be shooting that far I am pretty...
You must have been watching me. I think maybe I am not quite right with my action screws. I think I have them torqued/done right, but the "middle" one started to strip because I used a cheap tool, so I can't be 100% sure it is right. I may have to get a torqx bit in there and back it out and...
Things didn't go bad. Though, the result was nearly the same. I zeroed at 100 yards, and I had 29 clicks up up left, so ~7.25 MOA of adjustment. I ended up ordering the 20MOA base from Warne yesterday morning to allow go with my warne rings I have. That should give me ~27 MOA to reach out a...
