Sheesh.. 170-200 bucks before shipping... glad I knew a guy who didnt need his!!

it is a bit odd to the shoulder at first given the "different" curve of the butt, but once you figure that aspect out, it is no problem at all... not the most gentle thing by any means, (the damn thing is covered in spikes!) Overall, I am happy with it.

That said, mine see's more action in the factory fixed stock.

Yeah, that is kinda what I was wondering, about how it shoulders. I also have the Fero-Z scope on there, and I was wondering about even getting my cheek anywhere near the right position. Obviously there are draw backs to the thing...

Never was much of a fan of being whacked in the jaw with a piece of steel, myself. ;) Ergonomics are not something that were thought of during its concept phase, with either the face-to-stock or shoulder-to-stock aspects. The fact that it's the only "correct" collapsible stock out there for the design is about the only positive I can think of, to be honest. :(

For years I shot an HK93 with the G3 collapsible stock. I never had an issue with how it shouldered, but then again, the recoil of 5.56 and 7.62 are two different stories. I have a G3 collapsible for my PTR91, but I haven't shot the rifle with it on yet.

That is the "new" style.

The old style has a concave butt plate, and is easier on the shoulder.

I bought one for my H&K 91 on a whim. It makes the gun very compact for storage/transport but it is NOT comfortable to shoot. For a lot of shooting I would install the full buttstock. For packing when you MIGHT need to shoot it the short one makes sense.

With the 30 round mag in place I think it looks like an AK47 on steroids.

If short, compact, and easy to shoot are the goals, the HK/PTR isn't the answer. It's a .308 with over 15 pounds of recoil. Certainly not too much, but toss a few 20 rounders through it and you will notice. It can't be aimed at all without the stock extended for any purpose other than to make noise.

When I bought my first HK in the day for $160, the choice was there, and we all knew the short stock was all part of the fad marketing to survivalists. For some reason, there is still a crowd who think a collapsible stock somehow makes for a more deadly weapon. A lot of it is that they can get it out of the car or pack from some concealed place. Under the circumstances, a good pistol in a IWB holster is a lot easier to tote, more available, etc. So, the fad has died down now that CCW is a lot more common.

They are great on the MP5, but on the .308s, they just feel like you're getting punched in the face. :(
All these years I have been holding it up to my shoulder, now you tell me it is my face I am supposed to use! ;)

I had a feeling that smaller butt on that stock might make for some more recoil fun. Though the normal stock doesn't bother me much at all.

Good comment on the slider. Cool lookin but rough to shoot in .308 and I think I got mine for $100 off one of the HK boards.

I purchased an excellent condition colapsible stock for my PTR91.

It was such a tight fit that I was afraid it would remove all the finish on the back of the PTR receiver.

Once on, it was too short for me. Maybe if you are wearing body armor, but in regular clothes, too short.

I took it off an never fired a round behind it.

I had an HK-91 many years ago.

I don't think it liked me very much.

Damn thing was always kicking me in the shoulder.

I did NOT enjoy that, and I'm not recoil sensitive.

I got rid of it.

I wouldn't even begin to want to shoot one with that little collapsible recoil-concentrator thingie on it.

And put my cheek up against one? Huh-uh!

But boy oh boy, was it ever sweet accurate. One of the most accurate iron-sighted rifles I ever owned.

The recoil doesn't bother me much, though I haven't shot more than 100 rounds at a sitting/standing... The PTR is super accurate, with both irons and the Fero-Z scope. I throughly love the rifle.

After reading the posts, I think I will hold off on the "new stock" option, and just enjoy it as it is...

I don't like the fact that the factory collapsing stock is only in or out, no multi-position at all and no easy way of making it so. Although I think the M4 adaptor stocks look ugly, they are the most comfortable and easiest stock to adjust.
