I wouldn't. My favorite arms dealer always warns his clients that leather holsters cause verdigris. However, he is ok with storing the gun in the holster but wrapped in a light cloth…
Luckily had no first-hand experience however...
OK, I have found the answer.
Carrying switchblades is now illegal in Germany since the new Waffengesetz as well as carrying any knive with a blade longer than 12 cm (around 4.7 inches). So beware!
There are no metal detectors at train stations in Germany. However, I am not quite sure that carrying a folding knive is legal, especially if it is a switchblade. In fact, it probably is illegal (it is illegal here in Switzerland and Switzerland is usually much more relaxed than Germany...
Dear Friends,
Living in Switzerland, I can't understand why full auto weapons are so expensive and scarce in the US (or at least in certain States).
I have heard many different explanations (taxes etc.) but none from knowledgeable people. Could someone explain to me in a few words why the...
Dear Friends,
Although an ethusiastic collector for many years, I will be buying my first 1911 next week. Could one of you explain what exactly is the so called "idiot mark"?
Thanks in advance,
Nick
Colt SAA, without any hesitation. I live in Europe (the Continent, not in the EU thank God), and I can tell you that anybody over here would recognise a Colt SAA as being the "Far West gun", the gun that made America. However historically wrong, that image, thanks to Hollywood, will stay.
The...
Dear Friends,
I am thinking of buying an ASAI One Pro .45. It seems that the company in Solothurn (Switzerland) still exists but I have never heard of them.
Have any of you had experience with those guns? I read on a forum that someone had owned three and that the slide had broken on all of...
These are the four rules in French:
TOUTES LES ARMES SONT TOUJOURS CONSIDEREES COMME CHARGEES
NE JAMAIS POINTER LE CANON DE SON ARME SUR QUELQUE CHOSE QUE L'ON NE VEUT PAS DETRUIRE
LAISSER L'INDEX EN DEHORS DE LA DETENTE TANT QUE LE GUIDON N'EST PAS SUR LA CIBLE
ETRE SUR DE SA CIBLE
Copy...
A French .32 MAB model D my mum bought me in a junk shop in Lausanne (Switzerland) when I was 13.
Gun laws were so relaxed back then that neither the seller or my mum did anything illegal!
I was a schoolboy back in 1985 in Switzerland. President Reagan was meeting with Soviet leader Gorbatchev in Geneva to discuss arms cuts.
In my school playground, the Swiss Army had deployed an anti aircraft battery. I remember playing with the off-duty soldiers and their (unloaded) guns at...
I am terribly sorry about your loss. From Switzerland, I am praying for you and for the souls of your loved ones...
But life must go on and I hope you will have the courage to overcome your loss.
Kind regards,
Nicholas
Lindenberger: I find your comments rather mean. It is nice of that shooting range to think of offering jobs to fellow THR users. If I were a student or retired LEO living around San Antonio, I would be pleased to get the money, the experience and the fun...
I am a European, even if -thank God- Switzerland is not a member of the EU.
Mostly, Europe is quite safe except for certain city suburbs which, like in the US, are dangerous. I would advise you to be especially careful in the South of France where many criminal gangs operate and, naturally, in...
I have had Russian, Hungarian (FEG), East German and Chinese AK47's. I find the best ones are the East German ones. Their are reliable and well finished...
I would forget about .22's and directly go for a 9mm. They are good guns for self-defense (which .22's are not) and quite cheap to shoot. Try for example a SIG 220 or 226 ( I am Swiss so I am biaised towards SIG's, but, anyway, go for a 9mm, they are easy to shoot but quite powerfull).
I live in Switzerland where it is possible to buy and use full auto weapons or to convert semi's into full's if you obtain special authorisations.
I have just obtained such an authorisation and I would like to convert my Glock 17 into a full auto. My market research has shown me that two kits...
I would never ever try firing underwater with any gun whatsoever. I know Glocks are sometimes provided with an extra part in order to fire underwater but it remains rather dangerous.
A quick look around the Internet should provide you with enough horror stories to discourage you from trying...
