G19 - best of all things - good size to hold onto, yet concealable, high capacity and affordable to shoot. Reliable as anything, not that that sets it apart from other Glocks.
Thanks for the posts and the link. SC and GA both seem okay for car console carry based on this document, but the wording of GA sure is a little more tricky, at least to my non legal mind.

I'm taking the family to Disney in March. Trying to find info about carrying, particularly in the car, through SC and GA. I know that NC and FL have reciprocity with VA (I'm a VA permit holder).
Looked for some info on the web like on usacarry.com, but didn't readily find what I needed...
If you are thinking about something on the compact side and the 239 is on your list, that seems like a logical choice. It also comes in 9mm, which is cheaper to shoot. I don't own one, but lots of folks love the 239 for carry.
Given your wife's restrictions and your budget, go for a used Ruger, S&W, or Taurus revolver in .357 so you can also plink with .38. Might be a little more than $150, but money well spent and properly cared for, will last you a long, long time.
Glock 19, Beretta 92FS....Really you have to see what fits well for you. For me the ergonomics of the 92FS are perfect.
In 9mm, you can find just about anything your heart desires.
USP9, Glock 17, P226, and throw in the Beretta 92FS as mentioned. All are top quality 9's and can be as accurate as the person pulling the trigger can be. Got with what feels best. For me, the ergonomics of the 92FS are perfect.
If you like them all, you'll end up getting more than one...
"guess who sells brand x when one table has it for $389 and the next table has it for $359"
A friend of mine and I always talk about this. I know some will play a little more for a nicer seller and for someone who they think will stand behind their product, but by and large people go for the...
Tons of options in 9mm. If it fits your hand, Beretta 92FS. It's ergonomics are perfect for me. I am also planning my next purchase for either a G19 or a USPc9, both of which I think are great weapons.
Not sure of your level of training, but it might be a good idea to take an NRA supported class. In the one I took, we had general handgun/safety education, plus had an attorney come in to talk about the laws.
I am also considering both of these (G19 and USPc9) for carry and I think I am going to go with the USPc. I like the Glock, it is a fine weapon. I do like the manual safety on the USPc. I wouldn't be 100% comfortable with the after market Glock safety that wasn't part of the initial pistol...
I like the USPc a lot. Handled one today at lunch and it fits me great. That store wanted $749. I just called the other somewhat local shop and they want $729. Expensive firearm - over 700 is a little tough to swallow. Maybe I'll have some luck at the next show and find a better deal.
Thanks guys, I just wanted to make sure it didn't work like my 1911 or RAMI, where it had to be cocked to put the safety on. I'm considering the USPc as a new carry weapon.
