Does the safety of the USPc work with the hammer down? I know with a Variant 1 you can carry it cocked and locked, but with the hammer down, does the saftey still engage? Thanks.

Thanks guys, I just wanted to make sure it didn't work like my 1911 or RAMI, where it had to be cocked to put the safety on. I'm considering the USPc as a new carry weapon.

It is hard to beat the USP. The full size pistol would make the perfect police open carry gun.

The full size USP is just too big to carry concealed everyday for most people.

I like the USPc a lot. Handled one today at lunch and it fits me great. That store wanted $749. I just called the other somewhat local shop and they want $729. Expensive firearm - over 700 is a little tough to swallow. Maybe I'll have some luck at the next show and find a better deal.

I would suggest a USP Compact in .40 S&W or .45 ACP. The 9mm version had some teething problems handling the shorter cartridges. I think its been overcome, though.

The USP Compact was originally designed around the .40 S&W. Once that was proved they then went to the 9mm. Most companies did the opposite, taking a 9mm and trying to fit the .40 into it.

Love my .45 USP compact stainless. I paid $830 for mine.
Well worth the money, not even a hint of regret.
Considering the cost of a NIB P7M11 and 6 mags on an auction, the USP compact begins to look like a STEAL.

"Considering the cost of a NIB P7M11 ..."

No such animal. Do you mean M10 or M13?

The USP45c is large for a "compact" gun, but it is very nice. If I did not have a P7, I'd probably carry a USP45c.

The beauty of the HK USP line is in its versatility. There are several configurations that are available so you can carry it most any way you prefer.
