What should I do with brand new .223 Lapua brass for bolt rifle prior to loading?
1. Full-length re-size
2. Neck re-size
3. Use as is
Thanks.
Edit: The reason I ask is because I loaded 20. A few bullets were easy to seat, a few were hard to.
I want to neck size my 223 Lapua brass that I use in my Kimber MT for hunting. I already have Redding neck and full-length type S dies. I heard Hornay bushing "bumps" the neck while Radding does not. Not sure which to buy & use. Help please. Thanks.
Hello All,
Does anyone have experience with Hornady GMX 50 gr load with AA 2230 (AKA Ramshot Xterminator) for 223 Remington? I want to use it in my TC Encore PH with 17" barrel (1-12" twist). CCI Primer and Rem/Hornady/Lapua case.
Neither Hornady nor WP publish any loads for this bullet...
How well does yours track? I am having major inconsistencies with it on a very accurate rifle (.223) with a solid mount. Groups do not move consistent with the turning of the elevation or windage.
I went to the range today - finally. Lovely 27 F (hey it is better than -10 F), sunny and hardly a puff of wind.
Using my Chrony F-1 for the first time. FCC .223 case, Hd'y 75 gr BTHP, 24.5 gr TAC, Fed Match primer, JP CTR02 with 22" hvy barrel getting 2836 fps avg velocity !!! Extreme...
I have one of these in 243. I also just cut off an encore .223 rifle barrel down to 17". This way I can use it as a rifle or handgun. In Southern MN we must use shotgun or handguns. On the 243 barrel I use a Bushnell 2-6x scope. But in the early morning and later afternoon, in the woods or...
I am planing on starting to shoot the ISSF 300 meter matchs in 2014 with my JP CTR-02 in .223. With 77 gr SMK or 75 gr Hdy on top of 24.5 gr of TAC, I have shot 1/2 MOA groups from the bench.
My problem is that both of these bullets vary wildly in length (about 0.01"). I do not have a good...
Do you think the Forster sizing dies are a bit less polished inside compared to Hornady or Redding? I get these vertical streaks when I size my 300 WSM Norma (or Win) brass. I get nothing of the sort with my Hornady 223, 243, and 308 or my Redding 223 sizing dies.
For my Kimber in .308 Win, I am using FC brass, Win primers, AA 2230 powder and Hornady 150 gr IB pills. Run out of Win primers and want to switch to CCI. Should I expect a large shift in POI? Large enough to matter for deer sized game? It is already zeroed in at 200 yards and I really do...
I bought an experienced Kimber 8400 in 300 WSM. It had the Kimber bases and with the famous dove tail front and adjustable rear with 1" rings. I am not fond of these types of rings. I like minimum moving parts. So I ordered a set of one-piece light-weight Talley rings/mounts.
Now I have a...
I have decided I need a 300 WSM rifle for my upcoming Elk hunt. The only two candidates are Kimber Montana and Browning X-Bolt SS Stalker.
Kindly share your actual experience with them.
I have a Kimber America 84M in 308. She can hold right around an MOA. I am going to develop loads and get ready for a MT hunt this fall. Playing around I noticed if I only tighten the rear action screw, it lifts the barrel tip up
I have also heard that Kimber uses a mock up to bed the...
OK. Thanks to all of your advise, I decided on the CZ 527 M1 American with synthetic stock as the donor rifle. The order is in and the rifle paid for. The wait begins.
I will fully test it before sending it off for re-bore.
Please stand by :)
I have been daydreaming about building one of these - in a bolt action. I want it to be light weight to use for MN deer and coyotes. I want the bbl to be a max of 22" - 20" preferred. I will be using either the 65 or 75 gr V-max for coyotes and the Speer 85 gr SPBT for deer.
My questions:
1...
Folks,
Who besides Kimber makes such a rifle? Most are 1:12" or 1:10". I want a light weight rifle for close deer / coyote work.
Please - no other caliber recommendations.
Thanks.
