I vote for the X-Bolt. I have two of them. Contrary to what somebody said above, the magazine release does NOT stick way out from the gun. You will not lose your magazine in heavy brush. I love how some people hold a gun in a gun shop for 2 minutes then make all kinds of bogus claims about it...
"Uh, IIRC, the Form 4473 must be kept by the FFL for a period of not less than 20 years. "
Learn to read written text. I said I think it's 2 and 5 years. And I bet it ain't 20 years. Geez.
Does your friend also believe in black helicopters?
Paper 4473's are kept by the dealer and are subject to ATF audits. The dealer retains them for a period prescribed by law (I think 2 years for long guns and 5 years for handguns) then destroys them.
That's the reason why no dealer I know...
If you ever plan on hunting anything bigger than whitetail deer you will regret buying that .243...instead of "borrowing" a rifle later why not just get a .270 now and be done with it? It would be a WAY better choice.
If you want short action a 7mm-08 would be perfect - only a tiny bit more...
I feel for you. I hope you get it gone for good. It used to be only wack-o lib places like NJ but this he said-she said gun confiscation crap is everywhere now. Thanks to New Jerkey's own Frank Lautenberg, social hypocrite elitist extraordinaire.
Yeah well all that legal mumbo-jumbo crap aside if the dealer in NY doesn't want
to sell to a FL resident, he ain't going to! Legal or not, the out of state dealer can't
be forced to sell because I guarantee you most dealers 1)don't understand the law
and 2) play CYA.
Does NC allow CCW in state parks? I know our CCW permits are
damn near useless in this state, what with all the restrictions on where
we cannot carry; I'm asking because when the federal law takes effect in
February 2010 if NC doesn't allow carry in state parks then carry will not
be...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like you're fishing for the ability to buy guns in either of two states...ain't gonna happen.
I live in a place where rich Floridians spend half the year. They own large houses on golf courses. They pay taxes to this county. However, until they...
My Browning X-Bolt hunter in 7mm-08 put them all through the same hole from a rest at 100 yards - straight out of the box. Ammo was factory (Federal Vital Shok 140gr ballistic tips).
The "most accurate" rifle is largely a function of the shooter. ALL NAME BRAND RIFLES will exhibit better...
My 1st choice: T/C Encore Stainless with 26" .50 muzzleloader barrel.
(I would not get the Pro-Hunter because I don't feel there are enough "improvements"
over the Encore to make it worth the extra money - but you might!)
My 2nd Choice: T/C Omega
(inexpensive and a super muzzleloader -...
!!!Ignore all nay-sayers and buy the X-Bolt!!!
Seriously.
I have two X-Bolts, one in 7mm-08 and one in .300 WSM. Each to his own,
but I'd pass by a Remington for a Browning any day.
I don't care where it's made...the Browning is a better rifle in ANY configuration.
Winchesters are...
I'm about 2.5 hours from Columbia up I-26...is this a nice big gun show or is it small and goofy? If anybody has ever been let me know because if it's a good one I'd like to go when it comes around again. If it's small and goofy forget it because we have that here at the Asheville Civic Center.
Being new to reloading, I have another question: Do I have to have a case cutter?
Here's what I'm doing. I'm reloading .300 WSM and 7mm-08. Reloading and firing each case over and over until they weaken to the point they can't be reloaded, basically. I know these cases stretch and expand...
Maybe I should have specified ladder stand vs. climber, etc...but then again they all recommend using the harness, which is why I didn't make the distinction between types of stands. I know people who don't use one at all regardless of stand type and I know some who won't leave the ground...
Where I eat out it's ALWAYS pro-carry - in my own house! I go out to eat probably 5 times a year. My biggest concern is not whether or not they allow CCW - it's that the food usually sucks compared to home, the grease those places use disagrees with me, and it's money better spent at the grocery...
