I am interested in opinions on the most accurate out of the box rifle for deer hunting. I will be using a Leupold VXIII 3X10X50
The rifle MUST meet these specifications

1. Left handed
2. Rem 7 Mag
3. Cost less than $1000

Keep an eye on the match at the top of this forum. It just started yesterday but it's only open to "hunting" rifles.

For deer hunting I wouln't be concerned about the most accurate rifle but one that fits you, the weather, and one that you can carry around comfortably. Keep in mind rifles shot the good ol fashioned way ar far less accurate than the worst models out there shot from a bench. Most of the low doe rifles aren't made in LH.
IMO Savage deserves a look...made in the USA, tack driving performance.

Lets see here, all of these will give acceptable accuracy for most hunting scenarios

CZ
Sako
JP Sauer
Remington
Winchester
Savage
Browning
Kimber
Weatherby
Stevens
Mossberg
Benelli
Thompson Center
H&R
Rossi

Im sure I missed a few.....

Most all are good enough to 'hunt' with... your question of "which is the most accurate OUT OF THE BOX hunting rifle".....

My opinion... The Savage line of firearms... 116/16, 114/14, 110/10, 111, 12 and the 40.

The 114/14 and 116/16 make excellent hunting irons.

Check out the Tikka, Remington 700, Savage Ruger M-77 there all good some may be better than others. See what fits you and go with it. I can say first hand that my Tikka 308 was MOA or better out of the box and that was an older one with a wood stock - It was the Whitetail hunter. I have seen a few on-line NIB in 7 mag for good money - Good Luck

Hi I shot a lot of moose with a rugger 77 and hand loaded to clover leaf groups at a hundred. But I like the rem. trigger system way better.

My Browning X-Bolt hunter in 7mm-08 put them all through the same hole from a rest at 100 yards - straight out of the box. Ammo was factory (Federal Vital Shok 140gr ballistic tips).

The "most accurate" rifle is largely a function of the shooter. ALL NAME BRAND RIFLES will exhibit better accuracy then the average shooter can use to their advantage. That sub-MOA group I encountered "out of the box" from my Browning was, as stated above, from a rest (Caldwell Lead Sled with 50 pounds of lead shot on it)...I promise you I could not have done that off-hand!

Well, let's see....

The only left-handed turnbolt rifles in your price range, that offer 7mm Remmag, are:

Savage 110/111/114/116

Remington 700, several versions.

Ruger 77 Mark II

The Sako 75 although left-handed, is not offered in this caliber. None of the other ones come in left-handed. I believe the left-handed Dakotas and Lazzeronis are gonna be out of the price range. I'd start out with a Rem 700 CDL, but Savage is good too.

It's an unanswerable question, at least until someone buys several hundred of each make and tests them all. And even then, all you'd know is which brand tends to be more accurate. It would still be entirely possible to bop down to the local dealer, take home an example of the "most accurate" brand, and end up with a total dog.

The bottom line is that any modern bolt action rifle you buy is likely to offer much more accuracy than you are able to take advantage of, especially from field -- as opposed to benchrest -- conditions.

Are you going to be shooting your hunting rifle exclusively from a benchrest, using proper technique, wind flags, a 36x scope, and carefully match-prepped handloads? If not, than whatever rifle looks good to you, feels good in your hands, and is within your price range will likely do whatever it is you are asking of it.

As for most accurate...it won't matter, you get the right ammo, you won't be as good as the rifle. I like Savages, and tend towards them vs Remingtons and others, but that is just personal preferance. All are more accurate than you need for humane hunting distances. Try the different Savages, Remingtons, and that Tikka, pick whichever feels best...:)

if cz makes a lefty, do that. if money is no object, then the dude with the
Blaser wins. don't know if it is lefty though...

I like my Remington R-15 VTR 22" in .223 Rem. I fired a dime size group of 20 rounds at 100 yards. If you don't need more energy than 1400 ft. lb./ sq. in., then this versatile tool is for you.
