Kimber KPD for $415 on Impactguns....

Better buy one quick, they will be a collectors item since kimber recently announced that they will NOT be producing these after all!

Anyone got a kimber SIS 1911?

I just bought a SIS last week. If you follow some of my posts here and other forums, you will know that for years I have been quick to say "friends don't let friends buy Kimbers". I had bad experiences with two diferent Series II Kimbers several years ago. But I took a look at this gun because...

    I am Legend...

I thought it was a really good movie, the wife loved it also. But I have the feeling the ending was changed before the movie was released. SPOILERS if you haven't seen it yet I think the whole "bit" of the woman and her son escaping to find a survival colony was added to give it...

    annoying glock fanboy

Here's an idea for you. If you do decide to "talk to a manager" and complain, be real sure you make it known that you don't appreciate having your time wasted listening to stories about Glocks while you are busy trying to waste the saleman's time having him show you guns you never intend to buy...

    The newest Detonics USA

I believe Jerry Ahern hasn't ben involved with Detonics for several months now, and I'm also pretty sure Detonics is currently "between owners". I know they were trying to keep up business as usual, but I've been hearing they have pretty much closed up for the time being.

Do you take your gun out of its holster when you get in the car? Yes? I need advice.

Never. My gun goes in the holster when I put it on, and only comes out when I'm back at home putting it away. IMO, you need to get comfortable with wearing and being able to draw it while driving your car. How much faster will it be to draw if you have to think about where it is in the car...

    1911 carry

I usually try to see both sides in any debate, but I am very firm in my opinion on this matter. If you are at all uncomfortable with the idea of carrying a 1911 C&L, you should choose another handgun to use. And for the record, I have carried a 1911 of one sort or another for over twenty years...

Someone needs to ask. What's a "hammer cover"?

Dan Wesson Bobtail - Ambi safety?

The bobtail from DW is a true 4.25" pistol. UNless they just changed, they only come with a "normal" single sided safety. Mine was built in May of this year. Best gun I ever saw, fit and finish wise. Then I shot it and, well I used to own a DW bobtail. Good luck.

    Kimber Extraction issues

Kimber's use of an external extractor for an while, and I believe they had at least four different versions before going back to an internal, is one of the main reasons I will no longer consider owning a Kimber. I lost a lot of moey on two guns, and I have a very bad taste for Kimber, even...

Gun Show comin up what should i ask for glock 30

Sounds a little high to me. Local shop has em new for $529, can usuall pick up am mint used one for $430-440. Without night sights, and from an individual on a private sale, I wouldn't go more than $425 myself, and would try for $400.

Colt 1991a1 "half cock position" series 80

If it is a series 80, it is normal. It doesn't actually have a "half cock", but rather a "safety step", and the hammer will fall from it when the trigger is pulled, supposedly without enough force to fire the gun if it were loaded, but I wouldn't relly try it myself.

    Detonics or Sig C3 1911?

Might I suggest a Dan Wesson "bobtail" pistol. I just bought a 10mm version, and it is one sweet pistol. As nice and fit as well as I've ever seen. I suppose "custom" jobs might be better, but i can't really see how.

Take out the thumb safety, lower the hammer, and then remove the MSH.

    Ruger 1911?

There P345 comes the closest, but you would have to squint awfully hard to mistake it for a 1911! Did the gun itself say Ruger, or was there a "tag" there that said it was a Ruger? Probably mismarked.

which 1911, light weight, higher end?

I hate to tell you, but $6-700 is no longer anywhere near a "higher end" gun. The Sig uses no mim, but it is not a lightweight, nor is the Taurus, or RIA, etc. The S&W PDs are excellant 1911s as are the Springfield lightweights, either full size or Champion. I wouldn't be afraid of mim, I...

    Miami Vice guns (original series)

BTW, in the "pilot" movie for the series, Sonny carried a Sig P220 in 45acp. And regardless of wether his Bren was a 10mm or 45 (they never said in the show), he still must have been the only person who had more than one mag for a Bren pistol!

Observation at the range last night..."break-in period"?

First, Kimbers aren't "custom" guns, and if it has an external extractor, I'll bet your answer lays right there. Second, you said it isn't a Govt model, but you said it was a 10mm. Kimber doesn't make anything but full size guns in 10. You can't "stretch" out mag springs by leaving them loaded...

CCW 1911, cocked and locked or no?

I have to jump on the train on this one. A 1911 should only be carried cocked and locked, and is entirely safe when doing so. A little "practice" time should ease your mind. If you still have doubts, then it may indeed be time to find another style of pistol to carry. Good luck. (BTW, I've...
