Making an SBR, what markings are required?

I'm planning on converting a Sig 5.56 pistol to an SBR by adding a folding stock. I understand that I'm "manufacturing" an NFA item when I do so and must mark the receiver. Is there any particular information that's required, or could I just engrave my initials on the receiver?

UK: 14,000 knife victims a year

"14,000 knife victims a year" http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/14000-knife-victims-a-year-860857.html How do you regain control in a society that has effectively denied self defense to law abiding citizens? It would be easy to say restore gun rights and the right to defend...

Calling all graphic artists: Designs for "A Militia of One" t-shirt

In another thread, the thought crossed my mind that Heller affirms the idea of "A Militia of One". Well, not really, but it is a catchy phrase. What would be a good design for a t-shirt?

    What about suppressors and Heller?

What effect will Heller have on suppressors? I can see a real medical need to have a suppressor on your home defense firearm so as to protect your hearing. How would this play out as an angle of attack on the NFA? Is a suppressor an arm or just a safety device?

For those in the flood area: Do you have backup storage for your firearms collection?

Do you have a safe place where you can move your firearms collection in case a levee breaks and floods your home? I'm thinking of a friend or relative's house that I can trust in case I need to store firearms and other valuables in case of bad things happening. If so, what factors do you take...

http://green.yahoo.com/news/ap/20080524/ap_on_re_us/environmental_survivalists.html An interesting article in that it's in the "Green" section of Yahoo! News. The author treats the subject of having firearms to defend oneself and one's family as a matter of course without resorting to any...

    Cowboy loads for Home Defense

My wife is very small of build (5'5", 98 lbs) compared to a knuckle dragger like me. We've tried her with a 20 ga. pump and the recoil was still more than she was comfortable with. She has found that her Marlin 1894 Guide Gun in .44 mag is very pleasant to shoot with .44 Special cowboy loads...

    Surviving in Argentina: Home Invasion

An interesting post from http://www.ferfal.blogspot.com/ : Good points all around. Here's the question: what actions would you take in the situation described? 6 on 2 is not good odds no matter how you look at it. One thing is certain, surrendering is not a good option.

What I did to celebrate Christmas...

Just got home from a 12 hour shift, 7:00 am this morning 'til 7:00 pm this evening. I do this every year so one of our young full time officers can have time off to be with the wife and kids on Christmas day. It's my little contribution every year. It's the least I can do, take some of the...

    Truisms that ain't necessarily true

Just heard another old truism at my local gun shop yesterday and it got me to thinking. Here 'tis: "Beware the man with only one gun, he probably knows how to use it." I thought about that for a minute since I own two safes full of guns and I'm working on a third. Most people who I know...
