    Winchester 1300 Choke Tubes?

Good morning people. Have a question for you shotgun guys and gals. I've got a Winchester 1300 pump gun with synthetic stock, known as the Black Shadow Turkey. It's got screw in choke tubes, but came with only the extra full turkey tube. I've been told that Mossberg tubes are compatable with...

    Worst powder you have used

Also not happy with Green Dot in handgunloads. Used it because I had it for 20 gauge target loads, worked fine. I stay away from shotgun powders in my handguns, stick with the tried and true.

    Worst powder you have used

Not a bad powder, just a bad experience with H4350. A load listed on the bottle for 243 with 100 gr. bullets. Loaded a box, first shot out of a Browning Belgium BLR blew the primer out and was almost impossible to get the case out. Same load is fine in my Savage bolt gun. Should have read...

    first bad rounds. Why?

Try Federal primers, they are considered the "softest" in the industry.

    Savage's Pros & Cons

No cons for my Savage, which I thought I'd never say. Have an older Weather Warrior in 243, no Accutrigger or accustock, shoots better than any 700 or 70 that I've ever had. Been shooting since 1960. Yeah, it's ugly, thanks to the plastic stock, but I'm not messing with anything!

Changing Bolt Handles on Savage 16

MtnCreek, thanks for the info. This rifle is one sweet shooter, even with a little 4x and the the light barrel. The standard plastic stock is cheesy, but I'm afraid to change it for fear of messing up the accuracy. Have a good one.

Changing Bolt Handles on Savage 16

I am assuming the bolt must be removed from the rifle? No spring tension from the firing pin?

Changing Bolt Handles on Savage 16

Ok, please, NO laughing! Got a large bolt knob from Savage. Now, to replace, all I need to do is remove the end cap with an Allen wrench, slide original off, slide new one on and replace end cap? Is there spring tension on this, or anything else I need to be aware of? Thanks for your help, I...

    The Larger Savage Bolt Knob?

Her is my question. I have an older, pre accu-trigger Savage 243, really like the large bolt handle on some models. Is it possible to do a "drop-in" swap without having the assistance of a gunsmith? It's stainless, BTW, and are there any other sources for these other than Savage? Many thanks...

    Rem. 700 ADL-BDL conversion

Dorkfish88, no big deal to cycle the rounds out. I don't run them clear the bolt cycle, just run the bolt forward enough to pick op the cartridge and let it pop out of the mag., then back it up and do it 'til it's empty. Avoids running them into the chamber, etc. Hope everything works out...

    Armcor Special Edition

I looked at one a few weeks ago. It's a heavy gun, I really don't know, but I'd say it is a plus p shooter. If you didn't get the manual, they have a website that perhaps you could try. Good luck with it, they run about $250-300 new, depending on finish, so you got a good price on it. Some...

Why I choose the Hi Point .40!

Please tell me you're ****ting me.

    44 spl in 44 mag

I agree with DCPlumber. I've never worried about it anymore than shooting 22 shorts in a LR gun, or 2 3/4" shotgun shells in a 3" shotgun. Pressures are not equal, I'd guess, but I seriously doubt you or your grandchildren will live long enough to wear it out. I shoot specials in my mags with...

Your experience with the new Hornady 53gr V-Max .223?

I load for a friend's 700 SPS(not tactical) and use V-Max 50 grainers. This rifle is listed as 1 in 12" twist. 24 grains of 4895 shoots dime-sized groups at 100 with 3x9 scope. 4895 wouldn't be my first choice, but it's what I had on hand. Either we lucked out, or perhaps this thing will...

    Scope for Marlin 30-30

I am using a Nikon 4x32 rimfire scope on mine, my brother has a compact 2-7x Leupold on his. Both are satisfactory and provide good eye relief. The Nikon was $110, Leupold was over $200, but his was bought 20 yrs. ago, the Nikon, 2.

    Ruger's New Single 10

They'll sell a ton of these. The ten shot capacity will appeal to some, for me, it's the Williams adjustable fiber optic sights and the fact that it is a dedicated 22 LR bore. The convertibles use a bore size for the 22 Magnum and the LR do the best it can in that barrel. Expensive, but ...

    9mm Speer GDHP 115gr +P+ vs 124gr +P vs 124gr +P short barrel

I carry either 147 gr. Golden Sabres in my S&W 9c most of the time, occasionally 124 gr. Gold Dot +P. Factoring in many variables, and I'm not saying it's all bunk, but marketing hype is getting kinda silly. There is a HUGE market these days for compact guns, holsters and ammunition. Everyone...

Colt Series 70 MK IV- looseness

I've got a '70 series nickel Government Model that is a '76 gun. Rattles a little, shoots fine. It won't be replaced by a plastic gun, but, then, I've got one of those, also. Enjoy your '70 series.

Cant afford .45 acp, thinking bout going 9mm

When I left the nest, I already had reloading equipment, so I built a 6' bench and set it up in my apartment. Worked out fine, and now I'm using the same bench in our house. Only problem with the apartment setup was the fact that there wasn't air conditioning. Here in WV, it gets pretty warm...

    Sigma 40

Don't know, but at that price, I'd get some spare plastic ones and be very, very happy. Nothing wrong with a Sigma. I put 2,000 rds. of 9MM through one without any type of failure, all my reloads. I like friends like that!
