"The dirty little secret about the Moro situation is that after the 38 Colt didn't stop them two different 45 rounds were put into service, the old 45 Colt and the 45 Revolver. They also failed to stop along with the Krag's 30 Army round. The only conclusion you can draw from that is that no...
"I seem to remember reading that the impetus for the 1911 pistol was the dismal failure of .38 Long Colt against the Moro guerillas in the Philippines. Yet I'm supposed to be convinced that a .22 is as good as a .45, "as long as you do your job.""
The Krag rifles didn't do so great against...

"I didn't say that "everyone else is destined to screw up as well". You totally missed my point, which was that someone who claims it is inconceivable that they will have an ND may well be careless about muzzle control -- after all, why bother controlling the muzzle if an ND is...
Here's a question for those of you who have had NDs: Are you going to have another one? If your philosophy is that everyone is destined to have an ND, why not two, or three, or more NDs during your lifetime?

"I wonder if those who claim it is inconceivable that they would have an ND tend to be less careful about muzzle control. Whereas those who have had an ND may tend to be more careful to control the muzzle so that even if there is an ND, it is unlikely to cause any harm. It would not...

"Obviously, not all hollowpoints are created equal. Choose wisely.
Four layers of denim is pointless, since many who carry a .38 snub do so in the hot summer months. Not too many badguys wear four layers of denim when it's over 100 degrees.
But the argument seems to be choosing a...
Apparently, very few .38 Special rounds do expand reliably through denim, the Speer Gold Dot 135 gr. +P apparently being the exception. Through 4 layers of denim ther results are:
4-layer denim 13.6" penetration 0.53" expansion 134.1gr recovered weight
I'll stick with my opinion and we...

[penetration is more important than expansion]I would have to disagree with you on that one .If that were entirely true why wouldn't everyone carry fmj instead of hp in any gun.I agree shot placement is key but having the ability to create a half inch wound channel with hp is a...

Expecting a solid, but "soft" lead bullet to expand in softer flesh is foolish."

I carry Remington 158 gr. +P LHPSWC in my S&W 642. In my Bianchi speedloader I carry Speer Gold Dot 135 gr. +P hollowpoints.
I am much more likely though to be carrying a Glock 19 with 16 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 124 gr. +P rounds in it.
But the minus dot connector is 4.5 lbs.
As I understand it, it is a stock part. The trigger pull on the Gen 4s is slightly greater than that on the Gen 3s. The new connector is to get the pull back down to approximately the Gen 3 specs. I don't think it would impact reliability.
"I have a story where that was a response that eventually got the actor arrested but I can't put it on an open forum."
Oh, I don't doubt it, but it probably wasn't for what he said. :)
"If we shorten the original question to "do you have any weapons in the vehicle" how would you respond? In most jurisdiction lying to a LEO is against the law (18USC1001 in the US Code)."
Actually that only applies to Federal LEOs. The stipulation for local LEOs would be that you can't lie...
This is not totally accurate in Illinois. Your pistol can be in your glove box, unloaded, with a full magazine right next to it. The Illinois Supreme court ruled on this recently. The same applies if you are out of state. There is no requirement that an out of state resident is required to...
I have two Colt 1911s that I have purchased new in the last three years. Their quality is better than the quality of my Colt 1911 that I purchased new in the 70s.
Colt is dead has been the mantra for the last twenty five years. It's not happening any time soon.
