Decided to purchase a .308/7.62 Rifle in an AR Platform. I do not want to pay the prices on the high-end $2000 Plus madness that is out there. Looking to spend around $1500 I don't need all the fancy rails and other junk they put on these things now days. I just want something well made & reliable.

My son and I have decided to purchase a .308/7.62 in an AR or AK platform, if there is one, and we are looking for recommendations. We are not interested in those babies the go for $2000 Plus. Are there any in the $1500 range that are worthy purchases?

Not too long ago, Colt started offering complete Copper Bullets, in their brand name ammo. Has anyone tried it, especially in .45acp I see that it is now available again, at some vendors, in 185gn .45acp HP. Opinions and reasons will be appreciated.
