    Ruger Mini-14 Accuracy

    I love a good oxymoron.

When did they take away full autos?

FOPA, HR4332 19 May 1986 was passed on a voice vote, the damning verbiage put in place about 20 seconds before. The voice vote was miscounted. You can look it up. There's video. It failed. The congressman doing the counting passed it when it should have failed. And they weren't banned...

    Best Caliber For...

308, 20" Rem 700 LTR, just about ANY AR10 platform can use same ammo. 168 grain SMKs are GTG to 600 yds in these guns, 175 gr SMKs to 1000. Match ammo is available for a buck a round. Get a suppressor and you're king of the hill for the end times. For a while anyway. FWIW.

Anyone here used Plum Brown? (let's see some pics!)

I used it on a Charleville musket a few years ago. Came out really nice. Small parts you can heat up in the kitchen toaster oven and dip until you get the right depth of finish. Just follow the directions, it works great.

    308 Powder

Varget not available? I put an order in with midsouth in early January and got my powder last month. That's faster than ATF kicks out Form 4 approvals.

    Duracoat observations

I guess I'm lucky, or blessed. I'm a physician with access to syringes. For the volume I've been mixing - generally about 20cc - I use various syringes to get about as accurate a measure as I can before mixing. I like duracoat. I like how it goes on, how quickly it dries, how tough a finish...

    45 Colt -- Pet Loads?

I bought a box of these to play with: Oregon Trail Laser-Cast Bullets 45 Colt (Long Colt) (452 Diameter) 250 Grain Lead Flat Nose, picked trailboss 'cause I had a lot of it on hand (I use it for subsonic loads for .308 - crop loss permit - year round corn rat control), 5.5 grains and a...

Missed it by THAT much, Chief...

Got a long-awaited email from midwayUSA this AM that small pistol magnum primers (Remington) were in stock, just minutes before I needed to leave for work. Oh, hell, I thought, I'd place the order, but I don't recall how many I have on hand. And I hesitate. I ran downstairs, opened my...

    Shooting in CQB

This works, and I've had one on one training with it. Try this sometime when you can get a range to yourself, one where you can approach the target from the firing line (ie - no range nazis to harrass you about shooting forward of the line): put up a target, PPC or bad guy with a gun or...

    Range safety

A lot of truth here. NPR "news"? Sure, and Joe Biden really supports our rights to keep and bear arms, really. But yeah, seems like all of a sudden nearly everybody is coming out to public ranges, showing off their new guns, covering everyone and everything with the muzzles. I had enough of...

    Cerakote C-series cleaning solvent?

Acetone. I thought so. Good to hear from someone who has first-hand knowledge from the source. Thanks.

Do you still believe that your gun related records are safe?

When a Class 01 (or 07 SOT) retires, all the 4473s are to go to the BATFE. So far there's no such requirement for Class 03 (C&R) FFL holders. You aren't even required to keep you logbook. But that's like saying the IRS can "only" require you keep your records for 3 years, which is what their...

Do you still believe that your gun related records are safe?

Since when does BATFE need a warrant or court order to see and copy 4473s? I know several FFLs. It's not uncommon for BATFE agents to come into the shop with a copier and ask for the past week, or month's 4473. They just help themselves. Rights? We are owned. Or at least that's how...

Do you still believe that your gun related records are safe?

I never have. I've posted about this: http://www.thehighroad.org/showpost.php?p=8936150&postcount=10 Since the MSP has the data stored electronically, I've always assumed it's in the hands of INTERPOL and any other alphabet agency that wants it. "They" know who has guns. Turns out our CC...

Have You "Taken Care" of a Neighbor or Friend?

I'd keep that under your hat, the selling reloads thing. There's an attorney who posts on here (IIRC, might be another board) who insists that selling reloads is a violation of federal law if not done by an FFL-holder. I think it's a semantics/semiotics issue myself, insofar as "substantial"...

    Bullseye powder

light .38 SPL target loads with 148 grain HBWCs over 3.1 grains of Bullseye work great in my revolvers. I've also used it for 9mm PB and .45 acp. Goes bang, burns pretty clean.

    Cerakote C-series cleaning solvent?

Duracoat (Cerakote) sells a solvent I forget the name of, but I've used acetone without a hitch with both finishes. I don't do anywhere near the volume as you, but I've finished a handful of AR15s, one scope (cerakote airday) and a couple of Rem 700s and dozens of magazines and a couple...

    Win 94 owners...need a opinion on ammo

I've got a Model 94 from 1952 and it seems to shoot factory 150 grain Winchester just fine, better than I can shoot (gets on target out to 100 yards with iron sights). I'm playing with some reloads using 150 grain Sierra RN and 160 grain Hornady FTX bullets and H-varget 'cause I can't find ammo...

Opinions on the Best Case Trimmer

If you reload more than one caliber, or process more than 100 cases at a time, you will never regret buying the Giraud. Just limiting the wear and tear on your wrist and hands makes it worth the investment, I think.
