    Trapdoor Springfield Lock Question

Hi - I removed the lock from my 1884 TDS and a piece of small broken pin (0.118" diameter, 0.157" long) fell out of the stock along with the lock. The lock seems to have been functioning fine, but this concerned me. I disassembled the lock and determined that the pin had broken off the bridle...

    Help with Trapdoor Springfield

I recently acquired a nice M1884 Trapdoor Springfield. Good wood and metal, very clean bore. Buffington sight in perfect working condition. Only problem was the receiver was cracked in the usual place - in front of the extractor groove. I thought, "No problem, I'll just take off the old...

    Help Identifying Mystery Sear

Hi, I ran across a sear with some Sharps rifle parts. I don't think that it is a Sharps or TD Springfield or 1861 Springfield sear. Any ideas? Thanks! Dave

Help in identifying a Civil War musket

Hi All, I have inherited a Civil War musket that was presumably used by one of my great great grandfathers who served in an Ohio regiment. The rifle came with original black sling, bayonet (fits the gun) and scabbard, belt and US buckle, cartridge box, and cap box. Today I stripped the gun...

    Uberti Cattleman cylinder pin

The last couple of times I've been out shooting my Uberti Cattleman in .45 Colt, the cylinder pin has shot loose and started to slide forward, resulting in less than great cylinder lock up! Have any of you experienced this? Would it be worth trying to deepen the groove that the cylinder latch...

    Bullet diameter for Uberti SAA

Hi, What have you found to be the best bullet for the Uberti Cattleman 1873? In my gun .455 chambers easily. I've heard some say that .452 only should be used on all modern .45 Colts. I know - I should slug the bore, but I am reluctant to do that on closed top revolver. Thanks! Dave

    Fitting Cylinder on 1873 SAA

I am thinking of getting a .45 ACP cylinder to put on a Uberti Cattleman. Normally shoot with .45 Colt and black powder/Pyrodex, but I have a bunch of .45 ACP just sitting around. Do the Uberti cylinders require much fitting? If so, just what is involved? Thanks! Dave

    Colt versus Remy Sights

Despite hearing online about how the Remington 1858 sights are "better" than the Colt sights, I am finding quite the opposite when I shoot. The sights on my Colt 1849 Pocket and 3rd Model Dragoon are much easier to use than the Remington. Especially after I widened the "V" on the hammer a bit...

    Black Powder in Utah

Hi - I'm in Northern Utah (Logan) and there seems to be very little local interest in black powder. No stores carry black powder and Sportsman's warehouse is the only store that carries any black powder handguns. Are there any good stores "down south"? In particular, I would like to find a...
