Help me build this resource: Documented shootings involving duty calibers.

I thought it might be useful to have a resource that compiled medical and after action reports on shootings involving duty calibers. If you know of any high quality cases, please post them here in this thread. If we get enough, I will compile them into a pdf and upload it to the resources...

    Is it just me...

...or is Armslist pretty much dead right now? I've got a few listings up and I'm not even getting bites. No one's even bothering to offer to trade me their Taurus for my Colt Python.:uhoh:

Man does not live by ARs alone...

It's been a long time coming, as it was very difficult tracking down some of the parts, but here is my progress thus far on my 1988 Izzy AKS-74N. It started out as a plain jane '74 parts kit, but I was able to procure a genuine period triangle stock (actual Russian, not Bulgarian), as well as...

How is the Serbu GB 22 not NFA?

I thought the ATF had banned open bolt firearms? Does the absence of a magazine make that non applicable? For those who don't know, the GB22 is a zip gun that is single shot. It's fired from an open bolt with a fixed firing pin.

How exactly does the Schwarzlose feeds?

I've gotten very interested in blow forward pistols recently, and I was wondering if anyone can explain exactly how the Schwarzlose feeds. Unfortunately, I do not have one to study.

Crazy idea for a rifle design...

I've been reading a lot lately about last ditch weapons, and I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried a blow forward rifle that fires from an open bolt (uh...open barrel, I mean:scrutiny:). I'm thinking a heavy(ish) profile barrel might actually have enough mass to allow for simple blow forward...

What do you do with set screws after pinning gas block?

I just got done pinning another gas block this evening, and, as always, I'm never quite sure if the set screws are doing more harm than good. Like everyone else, I go ahead and crank them down after the taper pin is in. Of course they're vital while drilling the hole, but their continued...

    Game changer? .44 power with .40 S&W recoil + 16 round capacity.

The company claims: 900 ft-lbs, 2000 fps from 6'' barrel, sub MOA accuracy at 100 yards. Gun weighs same as CZ 75 or 1911 and has a 16 round capacity. This juice might seriously be worth the squeeze. I'm of the opinion that handguns suck, and, while larger calibers such as .40, .45, .357...

Anyone else find inarticulated opinions frustrating? (aka "beware the old guy lurking at the LGS")

Does anyone else ever feel like there's a portion of the human population who form die hard, nearly religious opinions about guns, yet they cannot even begin to articulate why they hold to those opinions? The below quotes are examples of various opinions I routinely see and hear expressed in...

Dagnabit I want a scout rifle, and it's all your fault!

Pursuant to the recent thread on the subject, I now want a scout rifle. I want to state emphatically that I want it for the novelty of it, not for any purpose in particular, so I would respectfully ask that we sideline any and all debate as to the practicality of the animal known affectionately...

    This is an AOW, right???

A guy is selling this on Armslist, claiming it's not an AOW because it's 26'' in overall length (we'll just have to assume he measured it accurately). It did start out with an 18'' barrel, and he either shortened it or replaced it (he didn't specify which). Now my understanding is that anything...

Officer shot in leg after his gun went off spontaneously, Winnipeg police say

Officer shot in leg after his gun went off spontaneously, Winnipeg police say http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/manitoba/officer-bullet-glock-1.4252937 I hate to question the story of the officers involved, but this doesn't pass the sniff test. Does anyone have any theories as to how such a...

    Is this a straw purchase?

I have a gun for sale on GB, and a guy in Maryland wants to buy it. The catch is that he can't possess it in Maryland due to a state prohibition against assault rifles. He's currently in the process of moving to Georgia, where he could legally possess it. What he wants is for me to ship it to an...

Injuries as a result of catastrophic failure?

I've never had a kaboom, nor have I seen one personally (knock on wood), but I've seen many documented. What strikes me as odd is that you see lots of photos of mangled hands that are supposed to be injuries from kabooms, but if you watch videos of kabooms actually happening, then you pretty...

Need advice regarding starting a small gunsmithing operation

I've been building uppers locally for a while now, and I would like to expand it into a viable business. I have a partner to take care of the logistical end, and I would like to get an employee to do the simple labor. This will depend entirely on doing a large volume to make it viable. I...

Is the ps90 grandfathered in in Maryland?

I've got a buddy in Maryland who was looking at buying my ps90, and his FFL informed him today that the ps90 doesn't meet the new overall length requirement under some new law that was recently passed. Thing is, apparently he already has one that he bought before the new law was passed, and...

Any velocity data for 30gr .223?

I was curious what a 30 grain bullet might do out of a 16'' barrel (.223/5.56). I've not been able to find any numbers though so I was wondering if anyone had some anecdotal data.

How do you carry your CCW permit?

I've started taking the dog on long walks trying to lose some of the weight I've accumulated over the last five years. Being adjacent to the 9th circle of hell like we are, at least during the summer months, I dress as lightly as possible. It's lightweight gym shorts and a t shirt, which enables...

Does Colt sell stripped lowers now?

https://www.armsunlimited.com/Colt-M4-Commando-Stripped-Lower-Receiver-Assembly-p/sp400777.htm Is this just a oneoff or does Colt now sell stripped lowers. I remember these "commandos" being rare, so is this old stock or has Colt just figured out how to capitalize on it?
