    A truly memorable experience...

I am 31 years old, my father is 52. When I was much younger, he would take me hunting with him, but he quit hunting alltogether before I reached the age of ten. This past December, I got him to go on a two day deer hunt with me and we both killed a doe. Even if we hadn't killed anything, it...

    Applying duracoat your self?

Strip it. If you don't, you won't like the finished product. Also, it's always best to learn how to strip your pistol. The more you know about your weapon, the better.

    Home Re-finishing

I like the Duracoat product from Lauer Custom Weaponry. It is airbrush applied and is very durable with good preparation. Plus, it is a snap to refinish small areas if you scratch it. I finished a Swedish Mauser M94 with it and have had many good comments on the finish. There is also a great...

Question about which rifle to buy????

I agree with most of these folks. You have a good rifle for larger game in a good model. If you want something with less recoil for whitetail hunting, get a 7mm-08, .257 Roberts, or .243. You can use all of these calibers for varmints also. As far as African hunting goes, I have never been, but...

    Savage 12BVSS or Rem 700VLS ?

The 700 VLS. The trigger is adjustable with a little know how and mine is very accurate out of the box. I picked up one a few months ago in .204 Ruger and can shoot inside an inch at 200 yds all day with factory Hornady 32gr V-max. Here's a link to one article on adjusting Rem. 700 triggers...

    .270 bolt: which one?

I have a Remington 700 ADL synthetic with 22" bbl. and a Weatherby Vanguard (Walnut stock) .270 with 24"bbl. I am a big Remington fan, but if I had my choice, and I do, the Weatherby goes with me every time. It is very accurate with Remington or Hornady factory ammo and the recoil is...

    SKS or AK

I like the russian SKS with laminated stock and milled receiver. They are more expensive than the standard SKS (about $300), but the quality is much better than Chinese.

Upgrade, Can I buy a premium rifle for $350?

Go for the Savage package, especially if you can get it with the accu-trigger. Besides that try Gunbroker.com. I recently purchased a Weatherby Vanguard with a Simmons 3x9x40 in .270 for $310. I am very happy with the rifle and killed a doe with it in late December.

    Coyote Hunting

Good call on the times North Texan. I prefer to hunt daylight hours myself because I usually hunt alone. I have had good success with it. Nighttime hunts are best with two or more people. I haven't ran the ad in a few months, but it'll be back as soon as I get back to Texas.

Another coyote hunting, looking for help

I can't help you much Dima on actually going on a coyote hunt. I am more than three hours away. My advice is not to wait for that and just go do it. If you only have public land that you can hunt on, get out there as much as you can. Look for tracks and scat and signs of coyotes. A good thing to...
