I am pretty new to reloading and I have a simple question. How many grains are in a pound? I want to know how many cartridges I can load with a pound of powder.

Reloading spreadsheet

Here you go. I think I got this one from the forums on BrianEnos.com, not sure. This guy did a really nice job.

And my coffee has only one grain...Oh. Sorry...Bean....:D

Coyote204...After everyone has fun with this and we hope you did too and got your question answered to boot. Even if you calculate the number of rounds that you can load from a pound of powder you will come up short as you will loose some on the bench, floor and the accuracy of your scale. You will, however, come close and have a ball doing it...Loading, shooting and reloading again...:)

Wow! I never looked at it that way.

And 437.5 grains per ounce.

That means my 500gr spitzer loads for my .45-70 Sharps are well over an ounce, each. Woo-hoo!

(And a 750gr .50 BMG load approaches 1/8 of a pound going downrange each time one pulls the trigger!)

"...4 different grains in my favorite beer..." Don't be daft. The only grain that belongs in beer is barley. Maybe wheat. Rice does not belong in beer.
Coffee is made from roasted berries, not grain. And it is a flavour.
"...how many cartridges..." Depends on the load. Divide 7,000 by the charge weight.

Picky, picky. Sunray...How come they refer to the bean when discussing Coffee beans rather then coffee berries. Yes... on the tree they may very well be berries although I have never heard of berries growing on a tree...For that matter I have never heard of beans growing on trees either...:D Who cares....I like mine HOT, STRONG AND BLACK....Maybe a little whiskey added for flavor...Way off subject.............................:neener:
