Crimson Trace for Taurus 85 question

I was concerned because of a product review I read on a sellers website, where someone complained the grips were "ill fitting", and wanted to get more than one opinion.

Ruger single six grip frame finish?

Just looked up the serial on Rugers website, apparently it's a 1975 production. I thought from the shape it's in it'd be newer.

Crimson Trace for Taurus 85 question

I'm considering the Crimson Trace lg-185 grips for my Taurus 85. Anyone have them; like them or hate them? I'm looking for reviews from people who've had this combo before.

Ruger single six grip frame finish?

I just picked up a new model Ruger single six today. The action seems a little "gummy" for lack of a better word. I'd much rather try hosing it out with some of that gun scrubber in a can stuff, but I'm worried it'll remove the finish on the alloy grip frame/trigger guard. Anyone have experience...

    .44 special 255gr load data?

Argh. Ok, bullseye it is. I swear I'm never going to get to use this can of 2400...

So what are some good manuals?

While I do appreciate the powder companies having some of their load data online, it is by no means all inclusive.

So what are some good manuals?

Ok, I'm going to have to break down and buy some load manuals. Any suggestions? I'm looking at Lee's "Modern Reloading", how much in the way of load data does it give?

    .44 special 255gr load data?

Jibjab, I'd looked there but wasn't sure how much of a difference the 5 grains of bullet weight would matter. I think I'll try out the 2400 at the low end of that range, 12.0-12.3gr. Though I've heard that 2400 doesn't burn completely in low pressure rounds...

    .44 special 255gr load data?

First off, no, I don't have a full manual.:( I can get a great price on 255gr LSWC for the .44 special here in town ($28/500), but I can't find any load data for that bullet weight. Anyone have a manual handy? I've got Bullseye and 2400 already, and would love to use what I already have...

    NAA mini revolver accuracy?

Ok folks, I've been thinking of getting one of these little beasties. The one thing that I'm still wondering about is the practical accuracy. I don't mean group sizes, I mean how far out can one hit, say, a golf ball, or a playing card with one? I'm looking for firsthand experience here, not (no...

Alliant 2400 in the .38 Special?

Think going with the lower end of that range, say 6.8 or 6.9 grains, would cut down on the unburned powder?

Alliant 2400 in the .38 Special?

I'm well aware of the possibility of inaccurate load data from websites, which is why I'm double and triple checking. I generally avoid the guest submitted loads on handloads.com like the plague. As for the powder selection, I have an unopened jar left over from loading .44 mag. I realize that I...

Alliant 2400 in the .38 Special?

Ok gang, I need some verification on a load here. www.handloads.com lists a 38 Special load of 6.8-7.5 grains of Alliant 2400 under a 158gr LSWC that they claim is data from Alliant, but I can't find anything listed on the Alliant site or in my manuals for that powder. Can anyone find a similar...

What do you keep for bumps in the night

Cold Steel 1917 Cutlass, keep it next to the bed along with a KaBar and Makarov. What can I say, I like to keep my options open.

    Revolver For the Wife

I would suggest staying away from the Taurus. I've just heard too many horror stories about their lack of customer service when someone gets a lemon or breaks a part.

    Your Best Deal

1896 dated Finn M91, with eagles, with the rare PUOLUSTUSLAITOS stamp for $50. Still kicking myself for missing the $200 Garand in the CMP grease by 15 minutes.

Has a gun dealer ever ripped you off or tried to? What happened?

Yup, most definitely. There's a pudgy guy who runs a booth at all the shows here, soupbowl haircut, glasses, looks a lot like Dr. Octopus from Spiderman 2. I bought one of the FEG HiPower copies from him a few years back. He had it marked as NIB. Took it to the range that day, trigger fell out...

    Guns registration/tracing

But that would mean that in order to find this out, the ATF would have to go dig through the records of all the pawnshops, rather than just making a few phone calls.

    Hey C&R Guys--Little Rant!

Yup Noxx, and Turk Mausers start at $180. This is why I got my C&R, I'll save money if I only buy one rifle with it. Last show, there was one of these guys with a Vetterli for sale for $99. Picked it up and started to buy it, he insisted on the 4473 form and NICS check even though it was an...
