Gun shot wounds and first aid

What's the shelf life on the Celox or QuickClot? The links provided don't say. I'd think quite long, since they are sealed up and 'bio inert' until they get used.

    Honest question

Depends on your policy, but the common answer is 'yes'. Same if you have a diamond ring that's stolen; you must have documented proof that the expensive item exists prior to the robbery. That said, I keep mine in a 'locker' rather than a 'safe', since I'm mostly keeping them away from small...

Minn. man shoots cops after SWAT team kicks down wrong door

The '30 shots' is a guess from a witness, and was likely a single guy putting a clip from his brand new MP5 into the ceiling. I saw video from a convenience store shoot out where the owner and 2 BGs fired 30+ rounds at distances out to 10 feet, without anyone getting directly hit.

Minn. man shoots cops after SWAT team kicks down wrong door

So he fired twice and connected, thankfully into body armor. They fired the other 28 times? and hit nothing?

    Question of ettiquette..

I can remember my father sending me to find a penny, so he could 'sell' my first pocket knife to me. I'm not sure where he picked up the custom; his family were all missionaries so they lived all over (as in India, China, and the Philippines)

My "Be Prepared" Pack (links included)

A friend was recently telling me about his "car kit", stuff he had in case he needed to "survive" from the car. He had all kinds of this stuff, but no jumper cables or portable compressor. Folks are much more likely to need to change a tire or get a jump start that to shoot someone, esp. with a...

    Kansas No CCW signs

In Tx, as in most states, a property owner can deny your right to carry by posting a sign; most malls and many other businesses do so. I've always wondered, if they deny a CHL holder the right to carry (as is their right as the private property owner) do they incur an extra obligation and...

Flow of guns to the wrong hands

I saw someone once take the amount of drugs seized coming into the US, multiply by 10 since the Feds claim to get 10%, and then determine now many AK47's worth of of weight/volume that made. Was something like 100,000 rifles, with 1,000 rounds of ammo each. Annually. And the 10% number is bogus...

    Roid raging Black Water shooters...

I'd be curious if local PD and Sheriff's test for steroids. I was at a location a couple weeks ago where an off duty deputy was working security, and he looked positively inflated his upper body was so big. Its understandable - Big Guys are intimidating, and intimidating guys get less grief...

    Colt 1911 in .38 super

thanks for the input. The first thing I noticed about shooting it is the ammo is about twice was 9mm is. I may look into the convert option for practice. I was grouping pretty well, considering I hadn't shot that pistol before. Very nice feel to it also. Thanks again for the input.

    Colt 1911 in .38 super

My dad is getting old (84), which is hard on both of us. He's developed quite a tremor which makes him unable to shoot or hunt, which is very hard on him. Last time I visited them, he gave me two of his guns; a M1 Garand and a stainless Colt 1911 in .38 super. The Garand (which he won in...

    Birdshot For HD?

as an aside on penetration... My dad is a retired doctor. He did his interning at Dallas Parkland in the early 1950's. One day ambulances brought in two men, each of whom had been shot with a .22LR pistol in separate instances. Guy #1 was shot in the upper left chest; entry hole right over the...
